Asus Rog Ally

Literally just jailbroke one for a co-worker today.

Its Ok'ish but my Anbernic is way better in performance and visual quality.
Dont know why but PS Vita seems to have issues running any emulation that is not Sony.
Oh no
Ive been watching cool stuff lately on YouTube about reviving old Sony Vitas
Ok, nevermind them :(

I still have my Donkey Kong that @HunterNW gifted me in 2020

Well you can emulate Nintendo Switch, PS3 and 360 among others soooo... the choices are vast.

Only thing is you can only do it for 2 hours then it gonna need life support. :p
Yes, this is a limiting factor... But I will build a small ps to take with me, sort of like a lithium portable power station.

Yeah the battery problem is where I lose the appeal of a device like the Ally.

The cheapest Ally is around R16k locally, whereas you could get an OLED Switch for R9k. And the Switch has dramatically superior battery life and games still look great on its 7" display.

Sure the games look good, but how much did those games cost? I mean this literally can play 90% from my Steam, Epic, GoG or whatever library. That is the biggest plus for me

It's relatively easy to get better battery life when you have the compute power of a potato.

Yeah fair enough, having my gigantic PC library would be nice. But Switch games don't have to cost an arm and a leg. Other than the new Zelda, I haven't paid full price for anything. The sale prices in the eShop for 3rd party games are excellent, and when you do fork out for a 1st party game with a meagre 20-33% discount, at least you know you're getting an absolute banger.

Does it matter? Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 are easily amongst the best games I've ever played and they run fine on Switch. Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart are some of the best multiplayer fun you'll ever have and they also run no problem.

Games are more fun than hardware specs.

Yup 0.5 teraflops vs 8 teraflops :)
I'm surprised it's that much. You'd think games would run better on the Ally then...

Its 1 Tera vs 8.6 for the Ally

Also its doing dam well with that 1 Terraflop if I look at the games on the 1080p TV

Well there are battery limitations that restrict it I think, also graphical settings can be cranked up a bit more or less depending on what you want to do I guess.

Whats worse is that its NMC, so that 2 hours is the best they gonna get. In 1-2 years that thing wont even last an hour so you paid R16K for a paperweight where the switch can still do well in its dock /end troll

I know, its 1 TF & 1080p docked, 0.400 & 720P when handheld :p

Worth it esp if you can pick up the set + game.

I bought the Switch when it first launched or a couple months later. Can't remember. The grey model.
Also have two Vitas, original OLED and the LCD one. Each is for a different region, US and Japan.
