Asus Rog Ally

For the warranty, I see Asus SA say:

Warranty3 Years Pick up and Return, Activated after delivery

I know but Alpha was complaining about the Ally's NMC battery. The Switch also has such a battery.

You ignore the second part of that post that was key to my troll post :p
Whats worse is that its NMC, so that 2 hours is the best they gonna get. In 1-2 years that thing wont even last an hour so you paid R16K for a paperweight where the switch can still do well in its dock /end troll

I only see them mentioning lipo
Lipo in some cases are worse than NMC.

Some only have 300 cycles to 80%

Source

Edit: And yes I said troll, cause, in reality, I would love one even just to play with it, but I cant validate R16K for something I probably wont use much. Example Our switch is mostly used by my SO and I only use it once in a blue moon. Also, the last time I played a PC game on a PC was back in 2020.

Understood :-). I've been looking for away to game like this for ages and ages. PSP didn't do it, Nintendo's last great console for me was the Cube. After that the games were either crappy ports or just Nintendo first party, which interest me even less then Sony's (only God of War which comes to PC anyway)

Some bad news, the Volkano USB adapter with 100w PD didn't get the 30W Turbo mode regardless of the cable used. The good news is that it was returned and picked up one of these to test

The model is 50209 and it gets the job done

Nice thanks will look at that

Just some rudimentary testing using my ecoflow river 2 max, monitor is the only other device on AC power and the Ally on the USB PD port with 30W Turbo mode

Then we drop it to 10W silent mode

Looks like it's drawing 14W in total, not sure what that's about but I can do other tests for you guys if you want me to

I think that's why they give you the 65w brick as it can draw up to that to charge the battery and keep the gaming going. Probably find that is what happens on 10w as well, while on charge it's holding the charge but allowing gaming?

That makes a lot of sense when you put it that way

Indeed it does. I guess its good for peopled to know if they going to be spending R16k on the device
Yup, though there are plenty of other 16k devices with only a year warranty anyway :-(

This is also very true. Hopefully we wont need to go through the rigmarole of needing the warranty anyway -touch wood-. What I have done in the meantime is added it on my home content insurance with naked for R90 p/m. I don't have a protective case or screen guard atm. Waiting for some accessories available locally, might go the Amazon route but we'll see how it pans out

Thanks for doing the detective work. I tried phoning them twice but each time the ASUS person did not pick up the phone. Still Incredible and Makro are authorised ASUS resellers. ASUS seems to be shafting people via their official reseller DG. I suppose a complaint to Asus Taiwan maybe or may not be of help, it may not cost anything to try.

Not sure if incredible is, as a few who have bought it say it may be a grey import
