Asus Rog Ally

Yup I've been meaning to get one for the laptop as the hdmi port isn't great
Then you wont be disappointed with the UGreen adaptor. Works really well
The official one, but saw its got our 2 pin. It does look compact, but the jsaux one looks better
Yeah I saw the photos of the official one. seems ok, odd design but makes it nice an portable for when we get proper carry cases. Might just be worth it for that alone vs keeping the jsaux one on the desk permanently

Good to know, I'll probably attempt the ugreen on a small 24" TV for low power gaming during shedding.
Though wish battery was a bit better :) might get a small portable power station when out and about ;)

Does anyone else's get a weird buzzing sound when it gets a little hot? Mine seems to get it on right hand side, like the vibration buzzer in an old Nokia. It's driving me crazy, so I'm thinking of taking it back and exchanging it for a new unit.

Mine does this too.
I think there were posts on reddit saying its a design flaw. Will see if I can find it

Edit: It's a bit of a mixed bag reading those comments, so it might not be as common as I initially thought. I think it also depends on the game but if it bothers you, maybe see if you can get a swap out

I've got had that and it's been up to 93 degrees. Though I did have a bsod

I don't get any of that. No BSOD's either.
Using Dobe Nintendo Switch OLED screen protector too. It doesn't look too bad and covers the display. If you purchase on Takealot the alcohol swabs are dry, I had to use a Webcol swab but any isopropyl alcohol would do.

How works the PD charging on the JSAUX?

Interestingly enough, only getting 25w Turbo with the dock. Bit of a bummer because it has all the other useful ports and is pretty sturdy. Not worth the return to Amazon though. Might just sell it as is or keep it and get the official one anyway

Edit I believe steam deck users can use the full 45w charging port, just us ally users won't get the full benefit

And on the ugreen you get full? I was reading that some steam docks were restrictive.

I'll let you know in about 10 minutes JPEG_20230706_104639_7500197205476059777.jpg

Okay at 10 and 15w no, especially at 1080p.
At 25w turbo it's more stable but it's still below 30
At 720p at 25w turbo yes you'll get 60fps. I can play around more with it when it's plugged in. Those 5w helpIMG_20230706_110029.jpgIMG_20230706_110253.jpgIMG_20230706_110313.jpgIMG_20230706_110428.jpgIMG_20230706_110530.jpg

Also on special on Steam right now, I mean did I just buy a game to test out an old joke? Yes, yes I did.

Go into the jungle, do you get the same on high? The steam deck plays this game at 50-60FPS on med @800p. Low it's 60-90.

To me it seems the ally needs a lot more optimization done considering it's far more powerful than the steam deck.

Oh I've not done a full play through :-) just to show it does play Crysis. I will do so a bit later, probably tonight

Nope sorry :-(

Hmm. So I get 40-57 FPS in valheim with everything set to low on the steam deck @800p

The ally is between 40-53 running @720p and low. Its not my Ally, its from a YT video someone testing the game.

Really would've hoped that the Ally will get a stable 60+ on valheim. I would sell my deck and get a Rog if that game can be played on a handheld locked @60 FPS.
