Asus Rog Ally

Hmm. So I get 40-57 FPS in valheim with everything set to low on the steam deck @800p

The ally is between 40-53 running @720p and low. Its not my Ally, its from a YT video someone testing the game.

Really would've hoped that the Ally will get a stable 60+ on valheim. I would sell my deck and get a Rog if that game can be played on a handheld locked @60 FPS.
Not sure, perhaps firmware updates might fix it, I know the previous one has given some hiccups

You may get that if you run at 720p with AMD FSR while plugged in at 30W.

And on the ugreen you get full? I was reading that some steam docks were restrictive.

So some guy did a video and found that using a 100W charger actually helps to output full 65W to the ROG. These decks may take as much as 15W when running hence the stock 65W brick may not cut it.

I get full 30W Turbo mode when running via the Ecoflow Delta 2 100W USB PD port.

The UGreen dock may just be more economical in how much power it leeches off for itself.

Interesting, I was getting 44w just now on the standard brick. I am guessing any extra power to the cpu and gpu would be a good thing, though cooling would become an issue I'm seeing 92 a lot more.
Oh plugged in at medium settings 1080p Crysis Remastered hits 60fps but averages 45 to 50 which is actually playable on this vrr screen

44W is the CPU/APU TDP but the screen and SSD also take up power. The stock brick outputs up to 65W but if the dock takes a few Watts then the Ally may not give the full 30W Turbo mode if it only gets a max of 60W out of the dock.

This device has pretty good performance.

Oh yes you can improve performance further by disabling Core isolation in Windows.

If you look closely you'll see FSR was disabled. There's no difference with the deck whether it runs on battery or plugged in. Same power delivery (on steam OS)

I don't know about the Deck but watch the video from ETA Prime, linked above and you'll see him run Jedi Survivor in the 50s. That's a demanding game.

I'm getting the ugreen, will see if I can find a 100w

I upgraded to win 11 pro so I could disable windows defender.

I think you can with home after jumping through hoops but I really didn't feel like the fiddly bits.

Will be giving my thoughts on it when I get some time to write it all down lol

I dont have a before pic, but i do have an after pic.
Less memory usage within the OS cant be a bad thing right?

My issue is that Windows has already replaced the AMD graphics driver with its own on 3 occasions already. And there is no roll back option. Thankfully using Have Disk option allowed me to roll it back manually. Can't believe that Microsoft and AMD haven't worked this nonsense out.

AMD does this by the looks of it so the new firmware is under my asus, not armoury crate

It's not the new firmware it's the graphics driver. I had to manually do it in Device Manager. But you're saying My Asus would fix this? Should I just run My Asus? Funny thing is that I ran the stock 317 firmware without going to 319 until 322 came out and only then Windows started this nonsense.
