Asus Rog Ally

A little off topic but I would like to hear your thoughts.

I built a medium level gaming desktop (was meaning to update my RTX 2060 OC) in 2021 and hardly use it. Because my day to day is my laptop and now I have a ROG Ally.

Now the question is, should I sell the desktop?

If you don't have any use for the desktop, might as well make some cash back to offset the purchase. Between a laptop and the Ally, that's pretty much all you need in my opinion, unless you feel you going to upgrade the desktop sometime soonish?

True. Rather sell it and accept the lost.

The Ally won't give you RTX 2060 performance. It's about equal to a GTX 1650. Since you wanted to go even higher maybe you enjoy 60+ FPS gaming in 1080P and higher. As long as you're happy with PS4 / GTX 1650 performance in handheld form, you may sell it I guess.

Way better then Ps4.

How'd you know.
I have my PS4 just chilling there

No so sure. Titles which do well on PS4 do so-so on this. It's been compared to GTX 1650 in performance from what I read, just below the Nvidia GTX 1660. For me that's fine, but for someone who wanted to upgrade a much faster RTX 2060, it may not be enough.

Remember Ps4 games res goes down to 720p, tries to hit 30fps.

Not all of them. What you claim is PS3. If you want to be charitable call it a mix between PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Whic is fine for me but for someone who thought RTX 2060 was too slow... isn't PS5, RTX 2070 performance?

If you don't mind not playing the latest and greatest at high res and frequency, this handheld is good.
Honestly, I'm not a big gamer.

I bought the Ally as an early happy birthday gift.
And it's good to know I can game where ever, even when traveling.

I think that's fine. Your statement that RTX 2060 was not good enough made me think you wanted RTX 3xxx level performance or higher and this would obviously not deliver. I also bought this to have something when traveling.

Ah yeah sorry Ps4 was 900p but still in 30fps. PS5 is just not as good as a 2070, it's based on a 5700xt but even the PS5 is becoming a 1080p console by the looks of it.

See here they pointing to it being as fast as a Ps4 pro
Seems on a console scale it's roughly Series S

Remember that console is more optimized.

Asus ROG Ally - Z1 Extreme for R15k on carb
Not much of a discount to be honest, but still good price. Yours? oivey sorry didn't mean that nastily :-) but honestly R999 discount feels not good, but considering the price of hardware a grand is a grand
