Asus Rog Ally

Follow these settings, most importantly the VRAM increase.
I'll get to the guide tonight and report back

It seems like a software related issue.

- I had my VRAM on Auto, 4gb,5gb and 6gb.
- Turned off all AMD related GPU stuff ( RSR, FMF, RIS, vsync forced off etc )
- Started the Xbox live service
- Turned off UAC
- Tuned off DEP
- Resolution 720p and all quality settings set to low in-game.

I tried a few suggestions on reddit and forza forums but to no avail. Not gonna give on this just yet.
My windows on the Ally is a fresh install as well.

Either the game's exe crashes ( busy investigating the error code ) or the AMD GPU driver crashes.

Has anyone here had any luck with getting forza motorsport running on the ally? Recently installed it and it keeps on crashing after the initial test drive. Anyone else had these issues?
Download complete will try tomorrow.

Just upgraded the SSD to 1tb with fresh install of OS

I gave up after spending about 10 hours total to get this to work.
But i would be interested if someone finds the work around.

Fyi, the error i got was the memory could not be written to error, but none of the suggested things to try work or applied

ASUS launches the ROG Ally X for $799

Anybody watched the latest on the Asus issues?
In Short, For us Ally owners, the SDCard issue will officially and publicly be addressed a week from now by Asus.

I didn't touch my SDCard reader since purchase, but eager to know what Asus will be doing to resolve this defect.

I finally returned my ROG and SD card to Incredible Corruption last week. They said 3 weeks. That's OK I don't have much time anyway.

I formatted the SSD (2x overwritten) in case my Windows and associated passwords could be accessed if placed in a different machine. The drive was not encrypted.

Damn good price, though I think I've gotten 5k worth of use out of mine in it's year :)

Mine's checked in for 'repairs' at JDG. They SMS'ed me a ref number. The thing is I'm concerned that they will think they fixed it and the thing will die again and now will be past warranty. Hopefully their repair has at least a 3 month warranty.

Hopefully it's replaced or refunded

It may just boot up, they may restore Windows and then it will die if I play a game on it. We'll see.

There's some intermittent issue on the thing which makes it die and then magically come back to life a few days later on.

That is a really odd issue

18k is one hell of a price for a handheld

2k jump from the launch price of the Ally, bit silly as the Ally has dropped quite a bit

How does it compare to a similarly specced ROG laptop?

Well you need a few things more to make it laptop like, you'll need a dock for the keyboard and mouse, plus external screen.
But other than that my Ally has been great, I've had it docked, used with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, my son uses his for steam link to his Occulus rift. So yeah remember this isn't a laptop it's primarily designed for on the go gaming. But it'll function like a windows laptop with the extras
