Looks like its optimized for handhelds. Thats exciting because it should be usable on all other handhelds theoretically
Those igpu / ai engines are **** turd expensive, anything with AI now is crazy expensive especially in a handheld.
The lower end GPD is around R20k while the top of the range is like R65k.
Still wouldn’t buy one tho.
Exactly, it is surprising how well the little Rog Ally has held upI have the ROG Ally (Extreme) and this new one would give like at best 15% increase in FPS. I am not going to upgrade to this.
For what?
I'd upgrade to the GPD one but not for R65K. The $2000 one, unless the ROG Ally in 2 years time approaches that performance.
Also not now. But the GPD will surely go on special and we also don't know the final price yet either.
RDNA 4.0 is where it's at I suppose. 32 GB RAM.
If you don't have a handheld the Asus one looks good. If you want to save a bit, get the GPD.
As a ROG Ally owner, nothing here says upgrade.
Exactly, it is surprising how well the little Rog Ally has held up. Just the battery life
I always doUse it plugged in![]()
The key differences are: the Ally X has double the battery capacity (80Wh vs. 40Wh), more and faster RAM (24GB of 7500MHz vs. 16GB of 6400MHz), a full-size M.2 SSD slot, and relocated microSD card slot. Both devices use the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. If you think that worth double the price then sure, or you could just get a winx powerbank with PD charging and call it a dayAs a casual gamer, is it worth getting the Ally X, considering the Z1E is almost half the price?

For that amount I’d buy an ASUS ROG Flow gaming tablet.
But I’m eyeing one of those Onex gaming tablets end of the year.

Don’t expect Doom Dark Ages to run or even the newer AAA titles.
For older games like Cyberpunk, doom eternal around that era then you’ll be good.
13 inches yeah.True. It's larger though, isn't it?
