Asus Rog Ally

Such a tempting device, will wait for the tech reviews to come out after they have used it for a few weeks.

The performance of the Z2 is like 15-20% or so better than the Z1 in terms of FPS of games. The extra RAM is nice but this is not worth the upgrade if you have the OG version, unless you need battery life, and even then an Anker power bank for R2.3K on Geewiz is better, although heavier.

Now the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 (GPD Win 5)
is the real chip to get. That thing has significant speed improvements over the Z1 Extreme. I see these are sold out, despite being $1600.

So been hooking up my Ally to a 16" portable monitor through one of those ugreen usb type C docks, plus some small speakers, can play games on a decent sized screen and chomp very little power. This would've been a great solution for running on a portable power station for a few hours.

Finally got myself a proper dock for my Asus ROG Ally. On Temu of all places and paid R400. Works well. 100W PD and 1Gbps ethernet with 3 x USB 3.0 ports so can't complain.

Can it output 1080p/1440p at 120hz or higher via hdmi?
I'm Looking for a dock as well.

So far when I hooked it up to my 1080p monitor it did 1080p @ 120Hz. I'm not sure about 1440p but it does say it does 4K @ 60Hz so 1440p will also probably be maybe 120Hz or or max 60Hz. I will do some more tests.

I’d like to install some Tmr sticks on my ASUS RoG ally x, does anyone know someone in JHB that can install them for me ?

Update here. It does 1080p at 144Hz on my xceed screen. 4k at 60Hz. Didn't test 1080p yet. So looks pretty decent.

I was looking at 1080p for league of legends because let's be honest you won't be getting high frames on 1440 or 2160p on the rog ally.

Why you disappointing? It's not like it will stop working. I have a AMD CPU in my PC that's from 2012 and it still plays latest games etc.
This is an APU not a CPU. The drivers control the gpu side of it as well

This is all just from some random comment about Lenovo providing updates for the Legion Go. OEMs need to take the drivers and release them.
We will see, you can manually update the drivers with some tinkering. Worst case you have to use SteamOS.

Does anyone know where I could get my Ally repaired? It just stopped booting wont even show the bois, charges fine. I dont want to take it to PartServe.

Where does Asus say you need to take it?
