Asus Transformer Pad Infinity 700 3G

Why not just get a little mobile router - they are quite cool, gives you lots of flexibilty. (Huawei E585, E586, Vodafone R201, etc).

You can have a look at my Infinity next week over a beer, if it suits (and customs doesn't give me trouble !).

I suspect that it may be a while before the 3G model comes out - I decided not to wait. I also think (based on what I read) that it will have a slower processor, etc. I will try to find the source again.
 
The 3G / 4G LTE model of the Transformer Infinity will have the product name Asus Transformer Infinity TF700KL. The 3G model is going to be labeled as TF700TG if in fact there is going to be two seperate versions. We believe the KL is indicative of the fact that the 3G / 4G LTE model will use a Snapdragon and not Tegra processor. The image shown here from Computex 2012 in June clearly shows that the model exists.

If Asus is going to go into the North American market with a 3G / 4G LTE model, the Transformer Infinity is a wise choice. Nothing official but it seems quite possible that it won't come to market until the end of summer. One of the issues is that the Infinity 4G will be using a Snapdragon processor, the S4, which so happens to be is short supply. It's pushing many devices into delays. Because of this reality it's quite possible the 4G model will simply be delayed. This doesn't mean the non 3G / 4G LTE model is delayed should there be a 3G model released but we believe there will be only one version, the TF700KL and not also the TF700TL. If you're wondering about a release date in the USA, we can tell you that when a product passes through the FCC (required by Asus before bringing to market in the USA), it most times shows up on store shelves at least one month afterwards. And no, the TF700KL has NOT passed through the FCC yet. When it does, be assured we will provide those details.

Thanks bud problem is I have this spare sim on contract and I do not want to now have another device to carry around
 
I can understand that.

I have actually decided on an expansive (and expensive) solution - I have ordered the Infinity + keyboard for home and normal travel, and I ordered a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7" 3G P6800 for light travel and around-about-town. The latter can also function as a phone, so I may plonk a 99c for real sim with 3GB for-a-year Cell C bundles in there. It costs too much to make outgoing calls on my Vodacom phone.

All of the stuff should arrive this week, starting with the TF700 tomorrow morning.

Now I need to decide what to do with my Xoom, it actually still works great and has ICS, so I am sure that some family member will want it.

I was planning on getting an Asus UX-31A Zenbook Ultrabook in a month or two, but in view of the above this plan has been shelved, my old Sony notebook will have to carry on - but no sweat, it may be six years old but has been upgraded (OS, CPU, Memory, Hard Disk) and is still going like a Boeing.

SO I got my Infinity 64gb Transformer with keyboard dock from Webantics.
OMG this thing is so sexy! and fast.
I'm using my galaxy S2 as a hotspot and it is blisteringly quick on HSDPA.

The only thing is alot of the apps I want to use arnt listed as compatible yet.
Like the DSTV app :(

Any ideas how long it takes for guys like DSTV to check and log compatability....
 
so I guess this is the tablet to get at the moment? beats ipad 3? samsung tab 10.1?

If you had to recommend this to a family member would you?

Yes, but only the TF700T is available right now, the 3G version will be available in a month or two.

I think that it is better than the iPad 3, because it has a similar screen, and it also has a card slot and a clip-on keyboard. And it does not use iTunes. YMMV.

Samsung does not have a competitive tablet at the moment (ie a tablet with a Full HD IPS display).

The TF700T has double the number of CPU and graphics processors as the iPad 3, but it is not faster than the iPad 3.

It is not quite as smooth as the iPad 3, but this should change with the impending release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

I also considered the 3G tablet for a long time, but the spec on the TF700T infinity is just too good.
The tethering works so well and smoothly why do I need another SIM and data for occasional 3G use.

So decided to go for the better one.
It is a fantastic tablet, the screen is just so beautifull, bright and crisp.
It's the first thing anyone comments on, ohh look at the screen.
I watched a HD movie streaming from my PC last night and it was crisp and smooth.

It has a number ofperformance settings, such as eco normal and turbo modes to preserve battery according to what your demands are.

The keyboard dock is a must, using the keyboard and trackpad mouse with android is great.
It really makes android a contender for everyday computer use.

The built in speakers are really weak, but the mic/headphone combo socket gives a really good sound.

Then theres the 8mp front camera WITH FLASH! theres nothing on the market that I know of that can compete with that.

would I recommend it, definatly without a hesitation.
If your dithering about what tablet to buy in the new generation then get this one.
The ipad3 may seem quicker, but it's really a os trick they use.
For pure brute power this tablet is the fastest.
 
Are there any walk-in shops selling the Asus Infinity 700? I wanna earn eBucks :D
