Asus zenfone 2

Probably around R4500 - R6000. I remember when the nexus 5 came out I got mine from orange at R4890. The prices are unpredictable, and unpopular devices such as Asus Zen phone and Huawei tend to drop quickly.

I have a Asus with a 1.2 GHz Intel duel core processor with 1Gig ram and are happy with it. A quad core Intel running at 1.8GHz with 2 Gig ram should be super smooth. This is definitely my prepaid phone for 2015. I think the 200$ will come to about R3500 : bargain! compared to the price tag of a Z3, G3 or S5 and its on power with them all.

I seriously hope it's good I'm in need of a solid affordable dual sim phone

The phone looks amazing. Where do you see the fact that it is dual SIM? Also, what do you think updates will be like? I am sitting with an S4 mini on Vodacom, still on Jellybean. I vowed to go with a pure Android Nexus/Motorola for my next phone.

I've read a couple articles on the phone all stating it's dual sim and Motorola is basically the cleanest android you get I have a moto g and prefer the interface I just have a problem with storage and it's a bit sluggish.

Orange does not state that its a duel sim phone but according to GSMArena it is. The ZenUI interface is not what I would call pure Android but its bearable. The one thing I can say about Asus is that they give regular updates, in the nearly 3 months that I had mine the firmware have been updated three times and all the Asus apps have received updates, some more than once.

I cant wait to see local pricing.

Asus aren't releasing it in South Africa as far as I am aware. Been wanting to get my hands on one of these for over a month now.
Thinking of importing one.

Orange get their stock from overseas, they have not been any help with regards to when they will have it in South Africa.
Also their website only lists the 2GB RAM version. I want the 2.3Ghz quad core with 4GB RAM version.

Yeah I am looking at Orange as well. 2GB at a good price would be fine for me.

Stupid MTN / Vodacom / Cell C and Telkom all does not offer this yet they have thousands of Iphone / Blackberry / Nokia crap. I soo hate them stuff like Motorola HTC and the like no where to be seen.

That is one detailed review, love Anandtech phone reviews.

been checking orange store daily for updates over the last 2 months,
and also keeping an eye on the Asus youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/asus
Last week they had a 4 minute video of the US launch, today they have a 1 hour video for the south-east Asia Launch.

hopefully orange will have decent stock when it launches.

Some more info from Computex with new Zenfone 2 models,

ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE600KL with 6 inch 1280x720 IPS display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 615? CPU,
2/3 GB ram Dual sim.

ASUS Zenfone 2 ZE500KL with 5 inch IPS 1280x720 display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU

no idea about pricing, might be cheaper than the 1080p intel models??

Asus also releasing a "Zenfone Selfie" phone with a 13MP front camera, a Zenpad, a Zenwatch ... and more
saw this on the Mobilegeeks.de youtube channel,
they uploaded a ****load of videos from the Asus event.

The Anandtech review is pretty accurate.

I have this version: Amazon

Brief First impressions:
Pros
* Lovely phone design
* Great customisation features
* Charges relatively quickly
* Great camera features
* LTE
* Dual Sim (only first Sim supports data - 3G LTE)
* 64GB Internal + 64 GB SD (external not included)
* 4 GB Ram

Cons
* The power button being at the top is a bit weird and "out of reach" (and I have large hands)
* Battery life sucks (but you can quick charge)
* Camera quality not consistent
* Apps that you don't want and can't uninstall (which I believe are eating the battery) e.g. Privacy Guard

If you want to know anything specifically, let me know.

Im just waiting for prices from orange before i'll consider this phone. The LG G3 is pretty cheap now and if this is priced similar then it is a no brainer to go for the LG.
