I'm on the brink of throwing my pc through a flippen window. For the past few days now, each time I plug anything into any of my USB 2.0 ports (all of them are), I get a popup saying that my device can perform faster if you connect it to a USB 2.0 port :(

Nomatter which port I plug it into this happens. I've installed windows over, 32 and 64 bit, I've flashed the bios to a newer version, etc but still nothing works :( Can't take this anymore... Any advice?

Edit: In device manager I get the yellow triangle next to one of the "standard enhanced PCI to USB host controllers"

And using Microsoft Fix It says that there's a driver problem but it fails to install driver

You could try to boot Ubuntu Live from a CD or a flash drive to see if the USB ports connect at USB 2 speeds.

In device manager right click on the USB ports and uninstall them. Then go onto scan for hardware changes and see if it will reinstall them.

I have been having the exact same problem but with one minor difference.

My problem is limited to a USB TV tuner, every other USB 2.0 device I use works fine, it's just this TV tuner that throws up this error, once in a blue moon by sheer luck it might work in a random usb port but 99% of the time I just get this error. :(

Everytime I uninstall the driver, and let it reinstall automatically it fails and reverts back to the same old problem

Download the latest chipset drivers. There is no point letting windows reload the same old driver that is causing the trouble.

This is assuming you have not installed the latest chipset drivers.
