Atheist 'mega-churches' take root across US, World

I've never been to an atheist one. There were lots of people who never attended or seemed religious but the service was always held in a church. There was one case where a church refused to have funeral service of one guy and the family had to make arrangements with another church.

If I can plan my funeral. Beer and snacks. Some nice words about how awesome life is. Touching song. Would like my ashes to be buried with a tree planted on top. Perhaps a "grave stone" with a cryptic set of clues to keep treasure hunters and conspiracy theories busy for centuries :D

It's not about atheism.
Yeah, I don't see how any of these gatherings actually is about atheism. You can only talk about "not collecting stamps" or "not believing in God" etc. for so long. After a while I can imagine it getting tedious, so I suppose they have to come together for something constructive. Those things mentioned (which are constructive and good e.g. live better, wonder more, help other etc.) have nothing to do with atheism per se.

Article is a bit misleading.

Maybe when they get bored the orgies will start :p

Well, color me surprised. I thought Techne was going to jump at the opportunity to point his finger while jumping up and down and saying "hah, see, atheism is a religion!"

Putting the fun in funeral. I like it.
