Apparently jealousy in some black communities can be pretty hectic, if you are in the fringes of the community, say the quiet guy that sticks to himself, doesn't mingle much and you start doing really well for yourself and especially if in a slightly controversial way you may easily find a mob at your door baying for your blood, burning down your house or randomly attacked.

I'm not sure what exactly causes this dynamic to develop but it probably is linked to those people that practise on the witchcraft side of muti. A successful outsider becomes an easy target when resentment starts brewing round the fireplace, after too many beers have been consumed, pipes smoked, okes start sh#t talking about people and so the process starts.
 
Manhunt under way for triathlete's handsaw attackers

Police are searching for three men believed to be linked to the brutal handsaw attack on South African triathlete Mhlengi Gwala.

Gwala managed to drag himself to safety after he was attacked while training in the vicinity of the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.

The attackers had dragged him into a bushy area‚ where they attempted to sever his leg with a handsaw.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said an attempted murder case had been opened at the Umbilo police station. “No arrests have yet been made.”

Dennis Jackson‚ director of the Elite Athlete Development programme - which Gwala is a part of - said Gwala was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. “We had some very good news overnight. The plastic surgeon said they are more than likely able to save the leg. They will be able to repair most of the damage.”

Jackson said the attackers managed to cut through most of Gwala’s muscle‚ nerves and arteries to the bone.

Crowdfunding to help handsaw attack victim, Mhlengi Gwala


Generous South Africans are starting to dig into their own pockets to help promising triathlon competitor Mhlengi Gwala pay for the medical treatment he requires after a gruesome attack by handsaw wielding criminals.

A crowdfunding initiative was announced on the Ironman South Africa Facebook page‚ as the organisation expressed its sadness at the attack on the triathlete‚ while sending him "best wishes and a speedy recovery".

Offers of help were shared on the group.

A target of R100‚000 has been posted on the BackABuddy website‚ titled "Get Mhlengi back on his bike".

"We are hoping to raise funds to support him with all his medical expenses‚ transportation‚ bike replacement and rehabilitation costs. We want to see him back on his bike!‚" JP Valverde asked supporters.

I hope that no one will now start a debate about the psychology behind such attacks.
In plain and simple terms, there is just no respect for human life in many cultures in Africa. ....

They tried to cut his legs off with a hacksaw, mutha fuga!!

That's insane, how did they manage to restrain the guy, from the pics I've seen the victim is fit and well built and must have fought like crazy even just due to the pain?

It's not easy to cut through a meaty shin bone with a hacksaw, they use industrial bandsaws for that in butcheries.
