ATI 4870X2 and 5870

Was just wondering, how the 4870X2 and 5870 compare against each other. I see online that the 4870X2 still retails around the R5,200 mark, which is close to the 5870's price.

Any thoughts or experience?
 
PCInt sold them for around R4500 or maybe even lower a couple of months ago, but they don't sell them any more it seems...

go for a 5870 though man! newer tech!

There are quite a few threads with 5870 review links where 4870x2's are also tested.:)

I'm in saving mode, so no extra cash to spend on new GFX cards. I have a 4870X2 and for COD4 it's doing just fine. Just see so many raves about the new 5870, and was wondering how my old 4870X2 would fare against the younger generation.

I have done that mate, but wanted to get some local opinions. :)
 
If you have a 4870x2 the only reason to get a 5870 is for dx11. Since there are so many dx11 out now, it's not worth it. Stick with what you have.
 
Rather get a new CPU and/or a SSD Drive - would be much better than a second 4870x2...
 
well i'll wait a few months after the release and *then* get it cheap cheap from PCInt :D
 
does anyone have and idea more or less about when the 5870x2 is going to come out and wat its gonna cost in rands?

I considered that, but I've never even heard of Rebeltech, and can't find any reviews on the Club 3D 5870 specifically, or is it now out yet?

Also the Club3D carries only a 2yr warranty. if I could get another brand 5870 I'd go for it. But don't want to spend more than about R3,800

Some cards only carry a 1 year warranty. Club3D is a well known international brand(just not here) and it's pretty much 100% reference design so I don't know what the issue is TBH:confused:

EDIT: And rebeltech is completely legit. I am buying from them atm as they have been around for quite a while now:)
