Hi there guys,
(I HOPE I AM POSTING THIS IN THE RIGHT THREAD)
I have a Sony Vaio laptop with an ATI mobility Radeon HD5650 GPU. It is a decent performing card but it can perform better with updated drivers.
ATI has recently launced drivers for their mobility series GPU's that supports MOST OEM notebook manufacturers, unfortunately SONY is not one of them:
"The following notebooks are not supported in this release:
Any notebook launched after this driver release.
Switchable Graphics enabled notebooks using Intel chipsets.
Toshiba notebooks (please check with your notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)
Sony VAIO notebooks (please check with your notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)
Panasonic notebooks (please check with your notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)"
This means that i am not able to download and install the latest catalyst driver for my notebook. There is an application (Mobility Modder)that can modify the catalyst drivers to add unsupported OEM's to the catalyst driver, but its out-dated and doesn't support 5x series GPUs nor the latest catalyst driver.
To get to the point. What i want to know is how can i manually add my notebook's vendor code to the latest catalyst drivers so that i will be able to install the latest drivers on my notebook.
I know i have to add something like this (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&SUBSYS_D0001458&REV_10)
to some .inf of the driver, but i am not sure which one,nor i am sure if that is all that has to be done.
If someone could please give me some guidance on how to modify the latest catalyst driver to support my GPU i would REALLY appreciate it a lot.
Thank you in advance.
