ATI or NVIDIA??

4 GIG RAM

I run almost every single game on high with 2GB ram at 1920x1080, so the answer would be fsck yeah!

never heard of that PSU though, how much are you paying for it?

It's gonna cost me R1.1k excl. I could take the 650w but the spec on the ATI card is 650w so I'd rather take a bit more.

:( there goes my dream :D

ya that's why i said i can *almost* run everything.

Crysis is still not good enough for me with my 4870X2, but i think it will run Nicely when I get a better Mobo, get 8GB RAM, and an SSD.

nice dream though :D

If you're spending that much then definitely get a 4890 like Killa suggested. The 4870 is getting oldish already and the 4890 is very, very well priced. Especially at pcint.co.za.

Your graphics might actually be the weaker part of your system for gaming.

Problem is that I don't see the 4890 on my suppliers list, I will give them a call tomorrow and find out, but if they don't have it will the N285gtx do? 1GB DDR3 (ATI has DDR5) but it is 512Bit where the ATI is 256bit...

Nothing can handle Crysis at HQ :D

? Mine does...

My pc's getting a little old now, but i run Crysis on full, no stutter or clipping...

Q9300 with 8gig 1066, xfx8800gt primary, xfx9800gt secondary, and tri, Win7 7100 64bit on a Asus P5E...

Rather the 4890. Some companies sell them pre over clocked to 1Ghz!

Also directx10.1 is actually showing up in quite a few games these days. Diablo3 is gonna support dx10.1 too.

holly fark I just saw in the PCF yesterday that a 4870X2 get's it's ass handed to it by a 4890 - it even eats up an GTX 285

wait - it costs only R2700 - that can't be right?

i'll have to check again, i mean, how can a R2700 card beat a R5100 card ?

:( so inevitably I ran into problems and the supplier doesn't have the cards I am looking for. I am now opting for N260GTX OC SLI, changed the motherboard to DDR3 and now want to know if it is worth getting more than 4GB of ram?

It's impossible that they don't have the 4870 and 4890.

Another thing to take into acount is that I can get the 260GTX for almost a grand cheaper now, so it is either 1x 4870 or 260gtx sli... so the answer is clear, but I still need to know if I should get more than 4GB DDR3

650W Will be more than enough, i run my whole system with 4870 on a 520W..

seeing the benchies, i would say get a 4890 - that thing beats a GTX 285 IIRC !

Get it from PC International man!
