I would rather run 2 5970's in Crossfire

I'd rather have the GTX 480 in SLI. SLI performance is actually awesome with them, although only a miniscule proportion of people are able to afford such ridiculousness

Those benchmarks would point to a person not overclocking I suppose.

I agree with you, I have an NVIDIA Card but at this point I wud change over to ATI if I had the budget

Plus the power consumption of a 5870 is quite low, even lower than a 4890. Then take a look at where the GTX 480 is on the list...
