Atio to shut down

South African ICT service provider ATIO is under business rescue and is in the process of applying to be liquidated.

ATIO was founded in 1986 and is a privately-held provider of information and communications technology services in South Africa.

Real big business in the 1980's. Knew lots of people that worked there. just another example of how a country can in a short 25 years or so, destroy IP and skills for short term expediency.

Previously Ateo in the 90's. However it turned out it was a swear word in a certain Oriental language. It necessitated a name change.

Staff heard just before Christmas they were losing their jobs.

Worked with some of their telephony support guys a few jobs back.

First working experience with Atio was in the Call Center back 2005, they had really good ICT services and then years later 2011 in Telecommunications they always hired the best in the industry. Really sad them shutting down.
