OK so i think im willing to give Plasma tv's a go, but no Pioneer available nor is there any Panasonics, so im left with Samsung right (?). I had a look at the Series 8 Plasma and just like my Samsung LED TV's, they look very nice, just worried about the speakers giving my trouble, but lets put that aside. Is this a top Plasma TV ? I want the very best , so price is not any issue here ....

Audio Vision might have some Panasonic stock... Otherwise, the rumor is that Panasonic stock should be in the country one of these days... If money is not a problem, then phone some high end AV shops, maybe they can source a Pioneer for you?

Generally, the Pioneer plasmas are regarded as the best... most people with high end AV systems have Pioneer plasmas (unless they have a dedicated theatre, where they might use a projector).
On most forums, all plasmas are compared the Pioneer plasmas - they are the benchmark. The problem is that they are expensive, so they didn't sell in very high volumes, so they stopped producing them.

Pioneer Kuro is the starting point. IF, and that's a big IF, you can source one of these, you'll have a piece of benchmark, however, note they don't make them anymore, so if it bombs, toughies. There was also a particular range that Pioneer made, that "popped". Not sure of the details, but worth a google. Panasonic are arguably next in line, although i think it's more perception than fact. Samsung 8 series is top of the range, so expect a great TV none the less. Panasonic have also many issues regarding power supply, black levels, etc, and currently they have no official stance on distribution in SA. If you are urgent, then take the chance, if you can afford to, or wait it out and do some enquiries with AV importers.

yes they do as Panasonic bought the Pioneer Plasma technology when Pioneer pulled the plug on its plasma operations.

Assumedly they are using Kuro tech. Reports are the 2009 plasma's are better than the 2010 ranges. As far as i have read, they are having trouble implementing the Kuro tech. It's not gospel, but is from the web, and we all know the web is true

what it boils down to is that the new Panasonic VT20 is just about the best TV on the market today, what with the Kuro Tech & all. maybe an original Kuro would be nicer, but you can't have one. Sorry for yoo.

OK so i forgot to mention that I needed a TV immediately,so I ended up buying the Samsung Series 8 (B850) from Fotocats in sandton.
Im actually returning the TV today. Its worse off than my Samsung B7000 LED in terms of colour and picture quality is about the same (IMO) . My NX700 puts this Plasma to shame. I dont think i'll ever conisder Plasma's in future.
