Hi everyone

So I am in the market for a new car......in my case another used car. I am coming from a VW Polo Vivo 1.4, I wanted to keep it longer, but at the rate that they are being stolen here in the North of JHB I am getting nervous about keeping it any longer, the insurance is also a lot for what the car is, if you get what I mean.

I am looking at the Audi A1s, mostly 2013 models with around 45000-55000KM on the clock, how much can I expect on a yearly service?

Do Audi Hatfield have a similar deal as VW do with the 1.4 and 1.6 Polo Vivos with the fixed priced services?

I am looking at either a 1.4TSI (90KW variant) and 1.6TDI (77KW). Does anyone own one of these? What would be great is if someone who has moved from a Polo to an A1 could tell me their experience.

Thank you so much.

All Audi's come with a 100k km/5year maintenance plan, unlike VW where you have to buy that as an extra.

You get an automatic extension at Hatfield Audi to 115k km, and to buy extra years isnt that expensive.

Thank you so much! :)

I'm guessing I'd have to buy the car at a Audi Hatfield branch to get that automatic extension? Not e.g. Lindsay Saker

Yip, Audi Hatfield offers their own 15 000km maintenance plan after the manufacturer plan has expired.

If do you go for TDI ,just make sure you give it a proper test drive on the highway ,apparently it does not have much oomph ,so you might be not like so much on highways.

I have driven a3 sedan 1.4 TSI 90kw ,and it was a excellent car to drive ,that 1,4 was very nippy with the 7 speed stronic gearbox linked to it !

Just to add my 2c, if you are planning to drive it post the expiration ofthe maintenance plan I recommend 2 things:
- Get an aftermarket warranty
- Find a good indie workshop

Thank you so much guys. After reading your posts, reading reviews and actually having a go in a friend's mother's 5door A1, I have decided to look elsewhere, mainly Renault Clio GT-Line and Ford Fiesta Ecoboost, I can get almost new Clios and Ecoboosts for the price of a high milage A1, and a whole lot more car.

Thanks again. :)
