I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw a new spark on the way home yesterday... The headlights practically take over the whole car!

Yeah I can see how that's better and less boring than the A1 :/I think you are letting ur hatred of VAG/AUDI cloud your logic and reason.

I agree that not everyone will like the the new trend in Korean styling as seen on the Spark and the i10 but for me their prices are about what I would spend on a 1200cc engine. That is the only reason I brought up the Spark in the first place.
True, VAG does make good cars, but they are not THAT good and certainly not the ultimate. One of the reasons I despise them as that so many people just buy them because they lack the personal confidence to be an individual and unique. VAG styling is amongst the most boring you can find and most Audis (especially the A3 Sportsback) looks like station wagons. Their boxy hangdown section on the dash is also oooh so boring.
If you want to see good VAG styling look at the new Kia Cerato - it was designed by an ex-Audi designer. I guess he had too many "fresh ideas" and that is why he had to leave VAG.
On the topic on the A1 - it is overpriced and looks boring.
By the time I got to the front of the car I did not have time to fiddle with a camera, it is a beautiful and very progressive design - not everyone's cup of tea - but it is something different.

Actually, you can say you bought a GM Astra because what is Opel in one place is Chev, Holden or Vauxhall in another place - but that is besides the point here.
If you compare Audi's line to BMW then its a no brainer who makes the more exciting and pretty cars - from the 1 series to the 6 series BMW is one ahead in both the driving as well as the styling department. Just to jolt your memory VAG incorporates VW, Audi and a whole lot more. In that camp the cars with the most flair is usually SEAT or sometimes even Skoda, but not so much VW or Audi.

thats a matter of opinion, I happen to enjoy driving an a3 over a 1 series bmw.
I loathed the 1 series shape until the coupe release.
The A3 is looking a little dated though. But I would be hard pressed to choose between an A4 and a 3 series..

Since when does BMW make pretty cars? The old 5 and 7 series are ugly, so is the X1, X6 and M6. The last decent looking car they made was the e46.
I agree, VAG make such boring cars - I mean look at the Audi R8 , R8 Spyder , Bugatti Veyron, Bentley GT & Supersports, Lamborghini Gallardo, Murcielago, Reventon, Sesto Elemento (YAWN!!!)
Now, a BMW 320i Start - that's what you really want. Pure driving pleasure, rear wheel drive and enough power to hit 60 km/h in a week and beat an Uno at a drag race.

I can't understand your fixation with GM here. As I said, the only reason I mentioned the Deawoo Spark was because that is pretty much the typical 1.2l car you'd expect. Not something that costs twice as much. GM cars are excellent, get over it, and if you really want to debate it start another thread because this one is about the A1 - with a 1.2l engine.
About the BMW thing, I am not talking about X cars, last time I checked the Q cars also looked pretty dull. It also does not help if you name drop a couple of biggies like Bently, Bugatti and Lamborghini because now that VAG owns them they have become boring cars for posers - especially thee Bentleys.
On the topic of deciding between an A4 and 3-series - its very easy if you keep in mind that while you may be able to afford the school fees, you can't buy Class. That is the answer really, C-Class.

It's a 1.2 TSI engine, i.e. turbocharged and supercharged. Not some lame Korean piece of 1.2 litres.
I agree with that the 1.2l engine may be a bit crap....then again, if I said a few years ago that audi/alfa etc would be switching to 1.4t engines you would probably laugh. (and the alfa 1.4t engine is a dream!!!)
I guess we will have to wait and see how the little guy performs, my gut feel is that the TDI will be the engine to get.
I dunno, the Q5 is very very nice...to the point where my g/f notices it on the road (and i usually have to point out the cool cars to her)

I actually had a c180k as a company car for a few months. Nice drive, great car, boring as hell. Like ultra ultra boring.
Its something I am actually scared of, cars are becoming too damn good. My friend has a 335 automatic, its so nice, but so boring. It moves, but doesnt feel engaging at all. Its the same with any of the AMG Mercs, I honestly enjoyed driving my old Opel TS and uno turbo more than my friends 335i.
Anyway, end of OT for me

The A4 trumps the 3-series and the C-class - I've driven all three. You just cant beat Audi interior and that is what you will be seeing when driving.
As for GM making excellent cars.. it's all opinion really. In my opinion GM is rubbish - I mean why else would they be bankrupt?

I have agree (on topic) that TSI is something else. I have been (and still is) very impressed with the 1.4 TSI they have in the Tiguan. But, as with the A1, the Tiguan's just too expensive which is why my VAG collecting buddy traded in his 1.4 Tiguan for the 2l one. For the money you are paying you do expect more - which brings me full circle to reason #1 to hate VAG - its overpriced. It is not a Merc or BMW so it should not demand the same money.
Slightly off topic I would definitely not call the 1.2 Koreans crap. The 1.2 engines in the i10 kicks out 55kw and in the Spark 60kw. If you compare that to a 1.4 Vivo with 55kw or a 1.4 New Polo with 63kw you really cannot call the Koreans lame.
A4's do drive very nicely, and yes some might say better than the competition - but the dashboard is boring and blocky and the image of being seen in a VAG is something I can do with it. I am more original than that.
GM makes excellent cars. They make rubbish financial decision, on that everyone is clear, but their cars are excellent in particular GM Europe and GM Asia.

I agree, VAG cars are most definitely overpriced, you can't deny it at all. Especially Audi, with all those optional extras you have to pay for - Still love the cars though.
Also the Koreans engines are not bad at all, impressive yes, but there is much more to a car than just the engine..
