Hi Everyone

I have a 2009 Audi A4 1.8T and must say the engine is a bit loud. Sometimes I even think its a diesel engine.... I just want to know if anyone has the same experience? Is it normal? The car recently went for a service and the workshop did not say anything about timing chain, tensioner etc...

Can someone please advise if they are living with the noise or have found a remedy for it...

Mine also has the diesel clatter...it's the usual TFSI engine noise. I wouldn't say it's loud but is noticeable.

It's due to this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-cheat-devices-like-ones-used-Volkswagen.html

Just kidding :p

Is SA doing a class action lawsuit?

Yeah mine is also noticeable. I just wish I could hear another car's engine sound to determine if its roughly the same sound I am experiencing...

The 1.8T isn't a TFSI like the Golf 5 motors etc with high pressure injectors and direct injection. The 1.8Ts are quite a bit quieter.
Ask the dealership if the noise is normal. Ask them if you can listen to another 1.8T in the workshop.

It's a 2009 model so it is TFSI.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will talk to the dealer.
