Good people. I need you advice please.

So I pulled up at a robot and I noticed that my revs were at 12000rpm. This is unusual because at normal idling its usually at 8000rpm or 9000rpm depending on whether the aircon is on or not.

When I pulled in to park at home the idling shot up to 16000rpm then down again to 12000rpm.

This morning when I started the car it started in a higher rev and dropped slowly to 12000 again.

Any idea what this could be?

Gearbox perhaps?

When I cold start my Audi it idles at 1200 until it warms up a little then goes down to 800rpm.

Thermostat related?

I'd say the problem is you need to take out the Kawasaki engine.

16000rpm.... I want that engine... Must sound insane!

Ok, so apparently air/fuel mixture is a very important factor when trouble shooting issues such as erratic idling.

Had the throttle body taken off and cleaned.

Changed the air filter since it wasn't changed since the last service.

Well the erratic idling continued.

Then found that the breather pipe had broken off. :(

R420 at agents. For about 10cm of plastic pipe? WTF?

On the 2.0T engines its a common issue. Some valve usually just needs to be replaced - nothing major. Check out the Audi South Africa forums.
