Audi e-tron GT Concept

Audi RS e-tron GT project 513-2

Audi of America announced a limited offering of just 75 units of the 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT project_513/2. Developed in collaboration between Audi of America and Audi exclusive, customers now have the opportunity to drive a version of the e-tron GT that most closely resembles the prototype car. This limited edition leverages the original design used for global prototype testing with "e-tron" camouflage script on both the exterior and interior, and is exclusive to the U.S. market.

Exterior design

The RS e-tron GT project_513/2 is the first Audi to offer a camouflage graphics-skinned and wrapped exterior from the factory. Camouflage graphics are often used by Audi for initial testing, and are designed to create confusion for onlookers that may be looking to capture the latest glimpse into automotive exterior design and technology before it is made public.

The exclusivity of the project is underlined by leveraging the internal code name as a special edition.

Audi RS e-tron GT Project 513/2 is US exclusive with only 75 units

If you ever wanted to drive a car that looks like a prototype - now is your chance. Audi has commissioned a limited run of 75 units of the RS e-tron GT that will be prepared by Audi Exclusive, its customization division. The cars will be made to look like the original prototype of Audi e-tron GT under the Project 513/2 name.

There’s more to the car than just a fancy wrap, though. The wrap itself mimics the graphic design Audi uses for its EV prototypes, the paint scheme is simple with gloss black and red accents. For the first time ever, the Audi logo goes red as well.

The customization goes much deeper, each of the 75 units gets ceramic brakes with red calipers, carbon fiber roof and carbon fiber inserts spice up the Alcantara-clad interior. Red accents from the outside are complemented with interior details - air vents, stitching and seatbelts. Sports seats are wrapped in the finest Nappa leather and finally the Project 513/2 name is embossed in the central console.

Audi Will Sell You a Camouflaged RS E-Tron GT

The company is building only 75 of these "project_513/2" cars.

We all love to see unreleased, camouflaged cars out in the wild. There’s something tantalizing about them — you can make out the general shape of Car, but all those little details are hidden away from your prying eyes. The imagination runs wild, trying to conjure images of what might be beneath that dazzling paint.

Of course, companies have capitalized on this. Modern “camouflage” is branded, meant to tell viewers exactly what car lies under the disguise — even if we can’t quite make out how the vehicle looks. So it’s only natural that an automaker would try to take this one step further: Selling production cars decked out in camouflage. Audi, with its RS e-tron GT “project_513/2,” is doing just that.

The name refers to the RS e-tron GT’s original, internal development code. The number “ defines the product’s segment, generation, and body style,” according to Audi, which I presume is why the fraction hasn’t been reduced to a proper project_256.5. The name pops up in the infotainment screen, on the windows, and even embossed into the leather interior.

The project_513/2 also gets a unique set of wheels to complement the black-and-gray livery, but the rest of the non-cosmetic options are pulled from the car’s parts bin: Ceramic brakes, rear-wheel steering, carbon accents, and front seats that are both ventilated and massaging.

Audi RS e-tron Ice Race Concept debuts on May 28

Audi released a YouTube video teasing the upcoming RS e-tron Ice Race Concept. The car is scheduled for a debut this coming Sunday, May 28. Alongside the RS e-tron GT, the company is teasing the classic Audi Sport Quattro, which seemingly has been converted and now runs on electricity.

There are no other details available about either of the vehicles, at least not officially. Both cars sport similar graphics with bright white bodies and purple accents. We get a glimpse of the RS e-tron’s pristine white interior, and apart from new wheels and the graphics, it’s really hard to tell the difference - until we look into the heritage of Ice Race.

There are subtle clues all around both the RS e-tron and the Sport Quattro - the number plates with F.A.T. on them - this was the original logistics company that used to sponsor Le Mans in the 90s. The Ice Race itself used to attract 10,000 fans to the Austrian town of Zell am See to watch cars racing on ice - from classic cars to prototype vehicles.

The Ice Race originated in 1952, and back then it was called Porsche Memorial Skijöring Race. In 1957 the race already attracted 5,000 spectators. In 1974 the race was canceled due to an accident with the snow-clearing vehicle. For 45 years the race was forgotten, until 2019 when the race was revived to an entirely new format.

Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race celebrates 40 years of Audi Sport GmbH

For those unfamiliar with the legacy, Audi Sport GmbH turned 40 this year. Birthed from quattro GmbH in 1983, this subsidiary has been serving the brand's distinguished clientele with its Audi exclusive program for nearly three decades. As a tribute, they’ve unveiled a special treat for automotive enthusiasts: the Audi RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition.

This beauty, limited to a mere 99 units for the European market, is steeped in inspiration drawn from the GP Ice Race in Austria. Imagine a car design that channels the world of snow, with colors that sparkle like snow crystals, and interiors reminiscent of the pristine icy landscapes. Ah, but that's not sarcasm you detect. It's genuine admiration. Sort of.

The exterior of the Ice Race Edition is striking with its basic color in Florett silver metallic, paired with a contrasting black carbon roof. Adding some razzle-dazzle, there's a foil wrap inspired by the glitter of ice, combined with patterns that mimic ice crystals. Violet accents, reminiscent of shimmering ski goggles, pop against the icy backdrop. Now, while we won’t say it’s pure magic on wheels, it certainly has an enchanting touch.

The interiors are where Audi excels in making one feel wrapped in luxury. The seats, adorned in diamond silver leather and black leather sections, have contrasting purple stitches, which is a neat hat-tip to the car’s exterior theme. Not to mention, there's a new steering wheel that pays homage to racing cars, and the icing on the cake - a unique MMI background image displaying the RS e-tron GT Ice Race Edition lettering and the car’s serial number.
