Rumour has it that Audi is to boost its A3 range with RS muscle. According to some reports the RS3 will get the same five-cylinder turbo engine that drives the new TT-RS.
In the TT-RS the five-cylinder produces 250kW but Audi may detune the engine slightly for the RS3.
The RS3, which will probably make its debut in the next A3 range in 2010, would also be a halo model and will rival BMW’s smoking 135i.
Though an Audi RS3 model could seem counter-productive in the current climate, the modern five pot engine is relatively economical. In the TT-RS has an average C02 output figure of 214g/km and a combined fuel consumption of 9.2 litres/100km.
