Audi Q6 e-tron

This is the new Audi Q6 e-tron, with prices starting from £69k

The mid-size SUV will also be available in 509bhp SQ6 form, which costs an extra £24k

The Audi Q6 e-tron has finally landed and will be on sale in the UK from 30 April. The entry-level Quattro will be priced at £68,975, while the more dramatic SQ6 pushes this to £92,950. We expect a full-bore RSQ6 shouldn’t be too far away, either.

It’s the first model to use Audi’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) technology that’s been jointly developed with Porsche, and employed here to target the mid-sized electric SUV segment. In other words, Tesla Model Y territory.

Power is provided by a pair of electric motors, which deliver 382bhp and allows a 5.9s sprint to 62 in the Q6. This jumps to a peak of 509bhp in the SQ6 when launch control is enabled, and brings the 0-62mph time down to just 4.3s.

The 100kWh battery can also provide up to 381 miles of range - around 50 more than the Model Y - while 158 miles of range can be added in just 10 minutes, and a 10-80 per cent recharge is dispatched in 21.

Audi shows longer-wheelbase Q6L e-tron with over 700 km of range

Audi has just showed the exterior of the Q6L e-tron at the Beijing Auto Show. The "L" in the name stands for longer-wheelbase. The car is in fact 105 mm longer than the standard version, and it's been tailor-made for the Chinese market. It's 4,884 mm long, 1,965 mm wide, and 1,687 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,995 mm.

Audi says the Q6L e-tron will deliver a CLTC range of over 700 km when it makes its full public debut between October and December. The car will be made at a new factory in Changchun starting in "late 2024", and the first deliveries are expected to start next year.

The Q6L e-tron is the continuator of various "L" models for the Chinese market, such as the A6L, A4L, Q5L, and A8L. It has a redesigned 'face' with illuminated four rings logo, and it will be available in exclusive colors like Lilac Grey, the version shown at the Beijing Auto Show and which you can see in the images above and below.

Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro confirms big range improvement in latest test

The latest video by Bjørn Nyland, a popular YouTube creator focusing on electric cars, tests the range of the all-new Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro. Nyland, a seasoned journalist with experience in the automotive field, specifically investigates how this new model addresses the inefficiency concerns that plagued its predecessor, the Audi e-tron nicknamed the "fat e-tron" by Nyland.

The Audi Q6 e-tron Quattro demonstrates significant improvement in efficiency compared to the Audi e-tron. This is attributed to a new permanent magnet rear motor and an induction front motor, replacing the dual induction motors of the e-tron, which were deemed less efficient.

Due to the increased efficiency, the Q6 e-tron was expected to achieve a considerably longer range than the e-tron. During the test Nyland calculated the range to be 521 km at 90 km/h and 404 km at 120 km/h. He estimates a potential range of close to 600 km on a future drive test he plans to conduct.

The Q6 e-tron boasts an impressive charging speed, reaching up to 285 kW during the video test. This is significantly faster than the e-tron's charging speed. The video highlights a revamped infotainment system that is easier to use and more intuitive than the system in the e-tron.

1,000 km road test crowns Audi Q6 e-tron the long-distance EV champion

The sales of EVs might be going up and down, but the electric vehicle market is getting busier and more competitive. Audi has thrown down the gauntlet with its all-new Q6 e-tron quattro and made some bold promises. Those promises were put to the test, and Audi managed to outpace its rivals in a 1,000-km endurance test, proving its prowess for long-distance travel.

Bjørn Nyland, a seasoned EV reviewer known for his rigorous testing methods, orchestrated the challenge. The Q6 e-tron quattro, equipped with a 100 kWh battery and all-wheel drive, crossed the finish line in 9 hours and 30 minutes. This impressive feat surpassed both the older Audi e-tron 55 and the newer Q8 e-tron, each of which trailed by 50 minutes.

Audi announces the US prices for the Q6 e-tron

Audi US has officially revealed the pricing for its much-anticipated Q6 e-tron. Starting at $63,800, the Q6 e-tron marks a significant step in Audi's electrification strategy, offering a blend of performance, range, and luxury that aims to entice buyers into the world of electric vehicles.

The base model, simply named the Q6 e-tron, comes equipped with a rear-mounted motor generating 322 hp, and coupled with a 100 kWh battery pack. This translates to a 0-97 km/h time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 209 km/h. But perhaps the most impressive figure is its EPA range of 517 km, the highest of any Audi EV to date, achievable when equipped with the optional ultra package featuring 18-inch wheels and low rolling resistance summer tires.

For those looking for more power and better traction, Audi offers the Q6 e-tron quattro, starting at $65,800. This model boasts a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with a combined output of 456 hp, also powered by a 100 kWh battery. Interestingly, that's 69 hp more than the same model has in Europe.

This rather substantial boost reduces the 0-97 km/h time down to 4.9 seconds (5.9 seconds for the European version) while maintaining the same 209 km/h top speed. The range for this one is 494 km per EPA.

At the top of the performance ladder sits the SQ6 e-tron, priced at $72,900. This variant outputs 509 hp, catapulting the SUV from 0-97 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reaching a top speed of 230 km/h. The trade-off for this extra performance is a slightly reduced range of 443 km, partly attributed to the larger 20-inch wheel and tire combo.

Want an SQ6 e-tron with less practicality? Meet the new SQ6 Sportback e-tron

As night follows day, so Sportback follows SUV. And the range-topper is a fast one

Like the idea of an Audi SQ6 – a practical performance SUV motivated by electricity – but want less of its… practicality? Then boy, do we have some Good News for you! This is the new Audi SQ6 Sportback e-tron.

We suspect it’ll be Good News for a fair few of you, since Audi tells us the Sportback-ed Q6 is “one of the most popular body designs among customers”. As with the SQ6 SUV and SQ5, this electrified Sportback sits on the PPE platform co-developed with Porsche.

And residing in this PPE platform sits a 100kWh battery, which in the SQ6 Sportback is allied to a dual motor AWD setup churning out 482bhp. That’s 27 less than in the SQ6 SUV, though it manages the same 0-62mph time of 4.3s. Top speed is 143mph. Both of those numbers are what you’d call ‘very fast indeed’.

Probably why Audi’s made a big deal of it looking… fast, while calling up one of its stone-cold classics in the process. “Echoing the first-generation Audi TT Coupe, the Sportback’s sloping roofline enhances its sporty aesthetics,” Audi explains. Indeed, “the vehicle’s silhouette flows gracefully, resembling a streamlined drop of water”.

SA-bound Audi Q6 Sportback revealed with longest electric range of any e-tron

Audi has pulled the covers off its new Q6 Sportback e-tron at the Paris Motor Show, which takes place this week.

It’s essentially a sleeker version of the Audi Q6 e-tron SUV that was unveiled earlier this year, featuring a coupe-inspired sloping roof.

Audi South Africa says it plans to launch the new Sportback model, alongside its conventional Q6 sibling, towards the end of the second quarter of 2025, with pricing to be determined nearer to the time.

The Q6 e-tron is based around the company’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture and is 37mm lower than the regular Q6 SUV. Despite the sloping roof that’s said to be inspired by the Audi TT, the new model still boasts a boot capacity of 511 litres with the seats in place, while customers can also opt for a 64 litre ‘frunk’ at the front end.

Those who like to travel between cities can look forward to the longest driving range of any electric Audi model to date, with the German carmaker claiming coverage of up to 646km between charges in the 225kW rear-wheel ‘Performance’ version fitted with the 100kWh battery.

2025 Audi Q6 e-tron interior, design, and features review

Which version to get?

The base Audi Q6 e-tron (€63,500 with VAT) does feature LED lights on both sides and the ambient lighting package, but that's about it. A move to the Edition One (€78,800 with VAT) adds the Matrix LEDs upfront and a lot of S-line styling, including the sports seats.

This is a luxury SUV from a luxury brand and we wouldn't get it in a base configuration.

We'd go for the middle Edition One trim with the big battery and the quattro dual motors, which starts from €90,000. But be prepared to add a few thousand for extras like S-line leather seats and nicer displays.

You'd end up with a posh EV that can do it all, go for hours and hours, and leave you wanting for nothing.
