Im sure almost anyone who saw this story in the first place was thinkg there was more to it then a drug bust instead of Joy ride gone bad- kind of sad people died but the cops had to make up a story that one of them being a drug dealer - poor family have to bury the guy with questions in the back of their mind if he was realy on drugs and chances he wasnt

Audi R8 crash questions

Johannesburg - Circumstances surrounding a Rosebank accident that claimed the lives of two people did not add up, it was reported in two newspapers on Saturday.

Motorist Areff Haffejee and a police officer were killed when Haffajee's Audi R8 hit a tree on Thursday. It was alleged that the Audi was fleeing from a police bakkie in a high speed car chase when the accident happened.

Justice Project SA chair, Howard Dembovsky, told the Citizen he could not understand how a police bakkie could have been able to keep up with an Audi R8 in such a chase.

"I cannot see how a SAPS bakkie that can accelerate very slowly could possibly keep up with the Audi R8," he said.

SAPS spokespersonLungelo Dlamini said before the accident, the Audi was pulled over by two police officers.

The car was searched and a small amount of dagga was found.

Dlamini said Haffejee sped off with one policeman still inside his car. The other officer gave chase in the police van.

A short distance later, the car lost control, hit a tree, a wall and a light pole and the two occupants died.

Dembovsky also questioned how the second officer knew about the drugs if his colleague was in the car when it sped off.

According to the Saturday Star, CCTV footage from a business on Oxford Road showed that the two vehicles did not seem to be in a car chase and that the police van was not flashing its blue lights as it followed the Audi.

I think drugs weren't involved...

You probably find the driver was either a little over the limit, or was speeding, and bargained with the cop for a free joy ride in exchange to be let off.
 
I think its pretty obvious the driver was drunk or they found his dagga & they asked him for a bribe & on the way to the atm they were killed.

Perhaps the owner decided to make the pig sh|t in his pants on the way to the atm & lost control.
 
On Saturday I went to Cresta Mall to watch "The Hobbit". The movie finished around 23H30. While driving in Melville to drop my friend I was stopped by police (two officers). Short story is that I paid R130 (last money on my pocket) for a crime I did not commit (drinking n driving). One of the officers had his hand on the gun as if he was stopping a suspect criminal. A strategy to scare me.

I was so upset and scared I forgot to record the car registrations or their names. I think their strategy is to profile an expensive looking car and go with their corrupt ways.

Cops are pigs, I have also been a victim of their intimidation to solicit a bribe. I told them to #@!#$ off and drove to the nearby police station and they stopped following me.

I have zero respect for them and its a pity the driver paid with his life and that one pig survived

Its a BMW 335i Convertible. Reason I say that is because one of the officers commented "Mmmm, nice car you drive, where do you work?" :sick:

Actually I'm still getting annoyed by the experience. I was thinking of randomly driving there again but this time have a plan to expose those pigs. Problem is I don't wanna risk my life.

I have had the same experience in ct.
The opening comments on nice car / nice watch etc is the opening gambit for money extraction.
I had my car searched & and they "found" a bag of weed on the floor in the back of the car. That was impossible as i do not use the stuff, and the car had just come out of a valet service where the manager pointed out a small stain on the carpet where the weed was later "found".
The one cop browsed through my wallet, commenting on cards in it and them counted the cash. The other while searching the boot area, stole a blackberry out of my laptop bag which i had collected for a mate from vodacom.
So they planted the weed - which they obviously confiscated for reuse, "fined" me R870 and stole a blackberry.

Mistrust for the police seems to cut across all sectors of our society, from the poor and homeless through to weathy professionals - a sad situation.

As I posted in the other thread, a few years back they tried to turn me into a drug dealer. They "found" a small packet of heroin in my boot, but promised to make the problem go away for R100.

Taking down registrations and names is pointless, cos the cop shop did absolutely f-all. I was a lighty at the time though so I didn't know any better, next time it goes to the ICD.

... often easier than going to the police station, holding cell, lawyer and the whole process afterwards

exactly, how can I seek help? I have no way to find the other criminals to help me!!!!
