Guys, please let me know what you think about this deal....

AA Report done


Final price - 330k

Opinions?
 
To me it sounds like an great deal!

A new Golf GTi without any extras will cost you that now.

Take it!!

If you want complete peace of mind, phone the AA or your insurance company & ask them what the book value for that car is right now.
 
Already did, book value is 330k , getting the guy to send it for an AA report and roadworthy test.

Hang on....you the Huandai Getz owner? Please dont buy this car, its very different from a Getz!

You will just fold it round another tree. :sick:
 
lolol yup one n the same, to be honest I am petrified of the car, but not in a bad way, more in a respected way.

I will def need time to learn how to drive it properly. :)
 
Just IMO those aa reports are bs, I was told this but did it anyway and still had issues
 
Generally 10-20thousand, but I an considering getting a smaller lighter car for general run around ..
 
Not a bad price, but not a great one either. Pretty much on the money as to what you should expect to pay for that model.

Great choice of car I might add. Good looking, quick, safe and practical. Nearly bought one before I went for the A4 DTM :)

Get the VIN off the car and phone the dealership to find out exactly what's been replaced and when. e.g. If the car is on it's 2nd set of replacement brake pads (or discs) already it might be a sign that the car has been driven hard.

Erm dude it is bound to have been driven hard but regardless it should surely have had a brake change by 47k km

I said "...on it's 2nd set of replacement pads" i.e. on it's 3rd set in totality ;)

It's not assured to have been driven hard. The chances are fairly good that it has been, but judging by how many of these I see being driven @ <40km/h by certain "status seekers" there is also the chance that you'll find one that has hardly seen the red line. (note: this has it's own issues mind you, relating to the car either not being run in properly from new and perhaps suffering from the carbon buildup issues the VAG 2.0TFSI engine is prone to)

Speaking of issues with the 2.0TFSI, there are a number of common issues (none too serious mind you) that you shoud keep in mind but will be covered by the remainder of your freeway plan (should be 3 years/53 000km left)
- Bad diverter valve: Inconsistent or lowered boost / loud whistle (depends on the size of the tear in the diaphragm)
- Bad coilpacks/plugs: Rough idle / inconsistent or hesistant boost at wide open throttle
- Cam follower/high pressure fuel pump issues: Inconsistent or hesistent boost through the rev range

As mentioned, get the VIN and phones Audi, they should give you a detailed break down of what has happened to the car. I did that with mine and was peace of mind.

I also think AA tests are BS. I wouldn't trust one to be honest.

With a car like that you are always running a risk. But its under plan so I really wouldn't worry to much.

And be assured the car was definitely driven hard. No one buys an S3 without driving it the way it was designed to be driven :p

That's the key right there...there's a difference between driving the car to purpose and abusing it (i.e. not giving it sufficient warm up/cool down time before/after pushing it hard, running it on 93 octane and/or the wrong oil, using launch control too often, etc)
 
So the price is still worth it? Personally I think the car is in great shape, and that it was well looked after, just hoping the AA agrees with me :)
 
Something I can't quite put my finger on is wrong with that car. I just get that feeling. Best off if you avoid it.
 
lol Roux is not a fan of VAG's and Audi's for that matter :), give him a Hyundai and he'll be happy
