Hi,
I'm having quite a hard time getting my audio to do what I want. Heres how I have things connected at the moment.
Desktop via HDMI to Samsung D6000, PS3 via HDMI to TV and then a single optical cable to a Sony STRDH500 receiver. I do this since the Sony HDMI doesn't allow audio passthrough but only video. Everything works fine and i can receive 5.1 audio except that my Rii remote now cannot control the Kodi volume. Kodi will PASSTHROUGH my 5.1 audio straight to my receiver, which prevents me from controlling volume (and usually blasting our eardrums, since I have my receiver vol so high). So, my intentions are to buy a new receiver however another issue seems imminent. I plan to buy a Yamaha RXV477 but there are issues with the Samsung ARC or CEC compatibility. The internet is flooded with users having issues with either sound not being transmitted via the ARC channels or not switching to the correct input on the receiver. Im pulling my hair out at the moment. Is it so difficult to have all these features working seamlessly? I have 2 issues, 1 current and the other potential. Please help me make the right decision. I would hate to buy another receiver and most of its features are unusable.Thanks.
