Audiophiles

yeah but i found a better way to get sound profiles and still be comfortable. mushrooms

Just DIY your own flat panel speakers, and then have your shrooms in that self-made sound stage.

But yeah, some earphone makers deliberately cut down on the pads otherwise their more affordable earphones may outclass their more premium earphones. There is a reason the custom cup community is thriving amongst the audiophiles.

I wish Sennheiser would stop with the faux leather, it lasts only a year or two before it starts to crack and peel off.

Yeah.. I am in need of new ear pads for my pxc550..
Closed-back headphones used leatherette ear cups so as to fit snugly and not leak sound. Open-backs use velour so as to leak sound (and improve sound stage). Not sure what they can change?

What he said. Look at some reviews. At their price point these are as good as it gets.
JBL and a lot of these other brands are sold on brand name not audio quality.

I have a R8k pair of JBLs that our work bought us with noise cancelling.
Noise cancelling is excellent, audio quality is a complete joke compared to the Audio Technica.

As for wired vs wireless.

If you are buying a R2k wired headphone, most of the money went into the headphones.
If you buy wiresless R1k-R1.5k of that money went into the battery, BMS and the wireless part.

Studio monitors are always wired for a reason.

Dang okay, I wanted to get a pair for gym. Now idk if theres any real difference between a 2k headphones and 5k pair when wireless.

I was thinking the same thing. I guess you'd hope the 5K pair use better materials so they can last longer.

Well they can usually be used in wired mode with all the usual benefits.

It’s about having options.
