Audis Insane Extention Prices

Other cars with full manufacturer maintenance plans will be comparable. BMW's was, as a rule of thumb, R20k+ per year a good few years ago; it's probably in the same ballpark by now. I don't think the value proposition is particularly compelling.

I extended my BMW motor plan by a year in December last year for R12,000. Time only, as the car was still a good 20,000km under the 100,000km limit. It escalates pretty quickly if you want to extend distance though.

Anyway, sold it, driving Subaru now and the salesman himself told me not to bother with getting an extended motor plan :o

Less than half as much as Audi :/

1 year (time only) was R26,000
2 years (time only) was R52,000

Found the same thing, was quoted different prices depending on the exact car though. All were Audi TT's ranged from 35 to 45k depending on the dealer. Also they will only extend if your car is currently within a motorplan.

Ended up finding a used one through an Audi dealership. They give you the 1 year / 20000km plan for free when buying used through an Audi dealership. The 20000 only kicks in after you have hit the full 100000+20000 so most likely the 1 year will run out first.

It will vary greatly by model, and probably with the reliability of the cars. If Audi know that the extra years will likely cost them a lot of money, they will of course make sure that they are covered for that risk.

2008 BMW 135 manual was R11k for the first extra year, and R14k for the second extra year, back in 2013 and 2014.
1 year and 15 000km was something like R38k.

I ended up getting my money's worth for the time extensions.

Most of the aftermarket warranties have stupidly small limits on how much you can claim. I rather take my chances and drive without one.
