Authentic Wagyu, where?

I tried it now for the second time, a case of dementia as I remembered only later, but it will not happen ever again. After it was fried all the fat was lost into the pan and the meat was as dry as a piece of cardboard and tough as leather of an old army boot, it wasn't even overdone but medium. The consistency was like a tough steak and not like minced burger meat.
It really was a waste of good money, will rather keep making my own.
My conclusion was that it can't be Wagyu, for the price of R125,97/Kg you won't get any decent piece of genuine Wagyu.

Yes, Wagyu fat melts at a lower temperature, which is why you see it usually served barely cooked - usually just seared.

Well as the most by now realised... for the real and true wagyu you need to go to nihon/travel otherwise you'll be stuck with wagyu-like. Updated?

Funniest is that people fall for these wagyu mince and burgers. Thats the easiest way to BS people buy saying Wagyu mince, I mean it can be anything.
Even the Wagyu steaks you see in some of the better butcheries does not look remotely close to the Wagyu you see from Japan, Australia etc, regarding the color and marbling.
Just South Africans being taken for a ride, same as with the R700 Prime drinks.

A "Checkers Food" near me has a wagyu brand every now and then. Price not outrageous but still bad. Think it was like c.R140 for a 200-250g piece of meat. Its not your typical steak cuts though (rib eye, rump, sirloin). Bought it once. Think i chose a flat iron cut. Was not great. To much grissle. Marbling looked great but very hard to eat so felt i had fallen for the marketing.
