Autobahn speed limit decision

I'm opposed to seatbelt laws for adults unless it can be demonstrated that they do anything for the average driver other than add to their own safety. Otherwise I fully agree adults ignoring seatbelt laws, motorcycle helmet laws and bicycle helmet laws.

If some guy crashes into me without wearing a seatbelt and he dies, i'm up for manslaughter and its up to me to prove my innocence- just because he was too lazy to wear a belt. If my brother didn't wear his belt, i would be responsible for his death today. At the end of the day its just not worth it dude.

I'm sure you're in support of natural selection, where those not wearing seatbelts/helmets effectively remove themselves from the gene pool. That's fine, as long as they dont involve other people's lives in the process. Again, it boils down to setting examples. If you dont wear a belt, neither will your kids.
Yesterday. For the person in front of me, and then me when I reached the crossing.
That's good to hear. Unfortunately it seems you're one of the few drivers left who actually adhere to this law.
But what really is the big deal with people learning to intelligently cross roads instead of standing at a light like sheep waiting for the slaughter? When I was in France it seemed everyone just crossed the road wherever they felt like it, taking the cars into account obviously.

Like they say ... a person is clever, but people are stupid. Have everyone cross the road wherever/whenever. Good idea. What chance does a young kid have of "taking cars into account" when randomly running across a street? That system may work in a society where car's actually take note of pedestrians and pedestrians are educated and know how much damage a speeding car can do to their spleen.

If we all stick to the system, cars, pedestrians, everyone ... it'll be smooth sailing. But ofcourse, that demands too much effort right ?
