Aux or USB input?

Nokia N-series devices have built in FM transmitters. Currently both my cars have MP3/Aux/USB.

Yeah i know. Now the quality of the wireless transmitters is not as good are the wired one. But not as good as AUX.

FM Transmitters offer nowhere near the quality of an auxiliary input. For starters the bandwidth on FM typically allow for a maximum of 32khz sample rate. Most FM transmitters will down-sample input to 22khz before transmitting it. FM Stereo is not true stereo, it is a joint stereo technology much like a low quality MP3.

With mine, plugged directly into the aerial socket, I can't tell the difference.

My problem was a funny-sized head unit - 1 2/3 DIN size, and finding a suitably sized head unit that has steering wheel controls becomes ridiculously expensive.
