Hello

So i had my car stolen about 3 months ago and bought the new honda jazz but one without the usb slot for the radio.. it does have an aux' input, but i hate that.. i dont have/want an ipod, i want, if possible, to play my music via usb stick...

is there such a thing that i can connect a usb stick in one end, and plug an aux' jack into the radio? and it will work?

you get mp3 players that work with usb..... but a little "converter" if thats what you're talking about - never heard of one.

Yeah, cheapie MP3 players will have an earphone out, and will have a USB interface, same difference?

nah man, I meant a mp3 car radio/CD player that will take USB - but your idea sounds cheaper!

get a cheap mp3 player at hi-Fi or wherever, and use the earphone out. you don't even need a usb stick because the cheapie player IS one in itself

I hear you guys... i cant replace a honda jazz radio... built into the dash... i used to have a jvc usb car radio... put my 8gig stick into it and had a library of tunes... those cheap crap thingys suck... but i guess im gonna have to settle for one of them... dammit!

Buy an FM modulator. Plug it in your sigarette lighter, plug in your USB stick, tune the radio to the correct frequency and presto!

The cost about R160.

I dunno how car manufacturers who are going to build a radio into the dash do not make it come with USB AND bluetooth with A2DP.

The FM modulator sounds like a cool idea too, I've heard people saying the sound quality is not great?

Sound quality is crap though imo and they are more temperamental than a pregnant bulldog.

OP, I highly doubt you'll find a converter of any sorts, well not a cheap one at least. You'll need to buy an mp3 player with USB inputs or just load the tracks on to the mp3 player. Not sure if you'll have all that much luck finding a portable mp3 player with USB inputs as well...

There is a usb input in the centre console just above the cup holder/ ashtray. You need to get the usb connector at the Honda outlet where you bought the vehicle from. My parents bought a new one Jazz earlier this year and I sent them back to Honda to get it. You should get it for free. If you bought a pre-owned vehicle then the previous owner might have the connection.

It is a great feature as you see the ID tags of the mp3s on the radio screen.

thats interesting.. i know the model above mine has one, maybe i should take mine in and ask if they can add the usb jack, although it never came with one.

thanks for the responses, and my late reply...

i have an n97, and if fm modulator thingy is anything like the fm transmitter on the n97, i think i will give that option a skip.

what i have been doing is burning a crap load of cd's... also, bought a cable which i use on my phone/mp3 player for the aux jack.

thanks again for the tips.

Aux is an analog audio port. USB is a digital data port. You are not gonna a find a converter for that.

You also can't plug a USB stick into an FM modulator. You need something that can read FAT & MP3 inbetween. Cheap mp3 player w/ audio out or headphones minijack is the best idea.

Alternatively depending on what cellphone you have you could use that. Most sonyerricssons can output to minijack which you can either use directly or get an rca adapter for if needed.
