AV Receiver advice required please

Thank you. My budget would be R8k max. and as for peripherals it would be my PS4 and Laptop only.

Thats a very decent budget. What is the make of speakers btw? Do you want to futureproof and got 7.2? Atmos?

OP still hasn't said what budget is.
Try and find something like this

Not worth buying brand new if you on a tight budget.
You just going to get crap sounding stuff, yes it will make a noise but at low volumes you will struggle to hear speech etc meaning you turn volume up and then all of a sudden there is an explosion in the movie and the sound is so loud you wake up your neighbours.
My advice IMO is stick to Yamaha, Rotel, NAD etc if you can. Just shop around, they're are out there
Very good price for this. I have a NAD T744 for sale for R2k, but I don't have the remote. That's one of the reasons I want to upgrade.

I have always loved NAD since the 80's. Beautiful Sound

Only had Denon stereo amps. They are good, probably better than NAD.
I bought a NAD Stereo amp from someone 20 years ago. The amp was abused when I was in my 20's. I was sad when I was burgled and the amp stolen 2 years ago.

OP, give us the layout of your living room.
The size and such.
Also, the details of the speakers and the impedance thereof.

My Denon went the same way along with Rotel CD player. Bloody thugs

The speaker enclosures were custom built and were fitted with Harman Kardon speakers.
You want the one I posted above, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, 8 HDMI ports including one on the front, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4K upscaling. It has everything.

My Living Room is rectangular in shape. It is 8 meters long by 6 meters wide. There are door openings on both the left and right side of the room which are situated right at the back. The right hand side also has a 3 meter long window which is 2 meter high.

The actual Speakers are all Harman Kardon with 8ohm impedance (older generation). They have been fitted in custom built enclosures. The two towers are 180 Watts each. The center speaker is a 150 Watts and the rear speakers are 125 Watts each. The subwoofer is a 12" independently amplified. Shows as 150Watt RMS.

Just checked. Sony minidisk player and Marantz CD player in the cupboard :X3:

OP , you can't go wrong with a Yamaha receiver for the price
haha still have my Sony minidisc player and a portable one and the hifi in kitchen has mini disc built in.
They were awesome at the time replacing the casette player but just didnt take off

Cool. Nice and spacious room.
Now, I hope you have bass traps and a mat.
You might go for a stronger amp afterall as you do not want to underpower your speakers as this can damage it as well.
As for the doors on both ends, would this not be a problem when placing your speakers in those corners?
