OK so there's debate on which is the best antivirus programs 100% free, we know that this debate can go on forever, but what I'm about to ask is, 'Which one out of the 2 (Avast-Clamwin) has the advantage of the other!' to use! Obviously only peeps who have tried them both will Know so please could I get an accurate answer! This is not a debate but to the point Pro's and Cons Many thanks!

no contest, I would choose Avast over ClamWin. Windows XP does not even recognize ClamWin as an anti-virus program. Avast is vastly superior in every way.

Thanks very much Garyvdh, I'll stick with Avast!:)

Avast as well. What it has is low level access to the Windows kernel, which means it offers real time protection. ClamWin is a good scanner, but since it can't do real time, it leaves gaps wide open. The reason for not being able to do it is due to the fact that it is open source, and cannot get permission to access the Windows kernel like that other closed source av vendors can.
