Ave Salary for a .net dev with 3 y experience?

Should R20K to R23K be too much or pretty ave?
Thanks.

Depends on experience and qualifications.

It would be average for someone with a Diploma and 5-7 years experience, or Matric and ~10 years experience.

I guess Stellenbosch is a special case then :p
I have B.Tech and been doing .NET since 1.0 back in 2002 (7 years) and I am earning round about that.

That's pretty average, maybe even below par. There are MCSEs with the same amount of experience getting about that.

I beg to differ on Matric and 10 years in a big way. For 10 years, much more than that, although, .NET has only been around since 2001/2002.

Some have 3 years experience and a degree and still cannot code... So it really depends on your capability, but ja, I think that is a good sort of average for 3 years.

I have three years exp (not .Net) and a degree, I live in JHB and am earning 18k.

I hope that gives you a good indication, .Net developers should get more. There is a lot of demand for them.

I say that your 23k expectation is realistic.

Someone once told me you are worth what you are paid, Full stop.
If you think you are worth more go out and get it. This philisophy worked well for me when i was employed.

Made Sure I was the youngest person around me(by 3- 8 years) earning what i earned.

Then again you have to be talented and have to have ambition.

Wou jou SMS, het julle dalk iets daar by julle nie?

Sal 'n bietjie rondvra, vermoed eers later in die jaar though.

Print die thread en gaan chat met die baas oor 'n bier en 'n stukkie melktert solank.

I have 3 years of .net study experience and building up corporate experience now only, and my salary is not close to that atm, hopefully it will improve soon :P

20 -23 k is to going rate for 3years I'd say, but never go into salary negotions without a bargaining chip!!

Don't follow his advice. Rather be upfront and ask. I loathe people who go on job interviews, get an offer and then play it off the boss to see if you can get a raise.

If you're worth the time & money and have the experience to justify the raise your boss can't say no.
