Avenue 5 S1

Fans of The Orville and sci-fi comedy in general, prepare to blast off into space aboard interplanetary cruise ship the Avenue 5, with inept Captain Ryan Clark (High Laurie) and the ship’s billionaire owner, Herman Judd (Josh Gad). There’s been a technical mishap and now the ship is on an estimated 3-year journey back to Earth, with a dead chief engineer, and only enough supplies aboard for their planned 8-week cruise. The series is created by Armando Iannucci (Veep, I’m Alan Partridge, The Day Today).

Watch from Friday, 14 May on M-Net (DStv channel 101) at 22:30

Thanks again DF.
There are positive reviews as well...

I think that a lot of the bad reviews here are from people that are... well, slow.

The humor here is dry and quick. It's easy to miss if you're used to being hand-fed comedy or need a laugh track to tell you when something's funny. Think Hitchhikers Guide mixed with some Monty Python.

It's not often I actually laugh out loud at a show. This one has me doing that every episode. HBO has already renewed it for a 2nd season. Can't wait!!

I'll give it a go, for Hugh Laurie.

Its a good show i rate, definitely worth watching

Dude that show is 16 months old and utter drivel.

Oh, wait, DSTV ..... ahhhh anything less than 2 years old is new content for them.
Don't mind waiting these days, maybe 'cos I don't discuss them much now as there's so many.
Often wonder how all the new content is watched, I've liked my series through the years but don't you all work?

DStv?
Has its uses for some, agree they're full of krrap as well.

They used to do the direct thing, but then people moaned when there were production breaks.

You can't compare it to Hitchhikers Guide or Monty python unfortunately. Was pretty exited to watch this show but it was pretty meh in the end.

I don't think many shows have a production break of over a year.
It's not about that, they now wait for the entire season to complete. Also lately it seems that DSTV is more focused on a different demographic

And they seem to also be on a financial diet now.

If it does get renewed hopefully it finds its feet. To me the writing seemed good but it just didn't feel like it came together where I was engaged and exited for the next episode. It has potential it just needs something to round it all out.

Apparently it was renewed.

Some are going to get upset with me now, but just an opinion - the way you describe it is how I've felt about The Orville most of the time, it like goes into an anti-climax.
