Average cost of wireless bridge between buildings

Good Day

I am looking at pricing for configuring wireless bridge between two buildings, I am helping out a friend and he insists on paying so I have no idea what to charge him.

• The main office is already cabled and connected to the internet.
• The secondary office already has all the equipment in place.
• Distance between the two buildings is 26meters,with clear line line of sight and absolutely no obstacles in between.

All I have to do is to plug in the antennas to the switches, setup an IP address on the new switch, and ensure that there is connectivity. I figure it will be pretty much like running a cable between the two buildings just with a little bit of tinkering as there are antennas involved.

Seriously though. Get equipment at cost then work out an hourly rate you both agree on. Most difficult part will be physically mounting and running cables. Rest is easy.

Thank you for the quick response Paul, however what I really want to know is how much should I charge him for labour. All I have to do is to plug in the antennas to the switches and setup an IP address on the new switch. Granted I am new to wireless networking but I expect that there is also some configuration to be done, which should be within my technical grasp. I have already suggested that he just buys be a bottle of klippies when all is done but he insists on paying a fair price, whatever that means. So how much would you charge just for the labour?

He is buying all the equipment himself, and also getting everything mounted, I just need to plug the cable into the switch. What is the average hourly rate in this field?

26m only? If the buildings are not crossing a municipal boundary, rather run an outdoor ethernet cable across. You might also get armoured cable meant to be strung up outside between 2 points (not sure if this is available). It will be cheaper, quicker and more reliable. Replace the unarmoured cable every 2 years, but the armoured cable should last a lot longer. If the switches on both sides are already fibre-enabled (have SFP ports), then running a 26m (+ 10m excess) fibre-optic link across will work out to the the same price as doing wireless, but it will be 100 times better, and won't be susceptible to lightning strikes, the weather, surges, and other issues.
