AVG 2012 Released in SA

AVG Free 2012 is a huge improvement on 2011. Upgraded (via new install) on a laptop over the weekend.

On a PC that had AVG Free 9, I tried to install the 2012 Link Scanner. The b@stard thing installed the Link Scanner but uninstalled the AVG Free 9 Anti Virus - leaving the PC with no AV protection. This forced me to install AVG Free 2012, which is a lot more slower (general as well as scans) than AVG Free 9

No thanks. I'll stick to ESET. Patiently waiting for version 5 to come out. Hope it is as lightweight and fast as the current version 4.2.

I was also a MSE fanboy. Not anymore. I use Panda Cloud, no updates, no issues. Saves a lot of bandwidth on my HSDPA connection :p

Used AVG for ages until it trashed my PC's networking a year or two ago. Ended up reinstalling Windows. Now MSE, works very nicely thank you very much.

Oh yes, Avira Antivir on my servers. It's over paranoid and gets false positives but it finds the most and I don't have to worry.

Never would have thought that MSE would get this popular. It works nicely though.

I considered that but the reviews were not that great. It didn't score very well in protection.

Review sites are governed by who ever pays them, eg: who ever pays the most gets the best ratings. I have tried numerous free anti_viruses, and to be honest I don't know how some sites give the rating they do (hence the reason I stated the above).

I work in a company that has over 10 000 employees locally, and they use a specific security system which they state is so fantastic, and yet it didn't even pick up half the crap on my work pc. The techs for our department even tried AVG 2011, that picked up crap. I used avast free edition and it got rid of all the crap (picking it up almost instantly).

So yes.....Avast ftw. Best free version antivirus I have ever used. Tried most of them, but found avast to be more reliable and faster than most. Will never look back. I'm not worried about statistics....owe this gets 90% security rating, or 99% rating, I'm more worried about actual results.

MSE here.
I like their tagline: "You cant put a price on security, so we didn't..." :D

I say this with a very heavy heart, but my first choice has to be Norton 2012.
I know what you're thinking, it has been REALLY cr@ppy in the past, but they've performed miracles.

I would not trust another AV on my PC....except maybe for Avast.
