"...it is plausible that the plane would begin to disintegrate once the speed surpassed its so-called "design limit."
There's the answer everyone has been waiting for ;)

In one of those above links parts did start coming off one of the planes.

Well according to the pilots of that Fedex freighter,
The speed was so fast, the altimeter, maxed out, couldn't go any faster,
And all this in the equivalent of a flying bus.....

Still amazed they alive, after the terrible injuries and the abuse of their aircraft....
I would have thought their "bus" would have broken up way before then...

Didn't exceed the speed of sound though ;)
Jetliners have a Vne below the speed of sound - meaning, parts can come off before exceeding the sound barrier.

Yes, please, share the link. Would make for a great flying story at the clubhouse :D
Seriously though, I want a time-stamped photo of that altimeter before I believe it.

How does speed affect an altimeter to "max" out?

Where did I or the article say it did?

You didn't! That's the point - we were discussing breaking the sound barrier ;)
I was looking for the source of the info of the Fedex flight (which I reckon is bogus) he was talking in about - not where A/C exceeded Vne, because I can tell you a lot about that :D
