Avoid HP

Perhaps, doesn't change anything, HP have burned bridges with me as they have with or company as well.

I mean I was actually endorsing HP thinking that it couldn't be true, now with my first support call to HP I get the exact same service as our company did before I started working there.

They expect you to go read the fine print: "NEXT DAY BUSINESS SUPPORT IS ONLY VALID IF WE HAVE STOCK"

Then I wouldn't have bought it since it isn't worth a cent.

Agreed, you shouldnt have bought that carepack since you have that warranty standard, might be worth raising it with nuvo

Here is the summary I got from that page:

Dell -> Supplier responds to complaints and seems to follow up
Lenovo -> 8 complaints in the last 2 years... Most companies wish they had that kind of track record on HelloPeter.
HP -> Silence.... No responses. They already got your cash. k thx bai.

There should be a bigger inventory of backup parts in SA.
If that is not the case parts should be flown in and not take 2 weeks to arrive.

I fully agee. Stay away from HP. The local SA office is clueless. I'm not sure what they do ! Never available, never return calls, never any support. Some German or French guy in charge of the PC's and Notebooks locally is just hopeless

At that price we could rather buy a few extra laptops and just send them back to HP once they break down.
Actually this is what large companies do. Replacement in one hour or less, hard drive swap or data restoration from the server.

Same happened to us. Brand new HP server was lying in stock for 2 weeks before we installed it. Tried to turn it on unit is DOA phone HP the motherboard is faulty. Had to wait 2 months for stock to become available so they can replace the motherboard.

Now if think if this was a production server?

For business machines Dell have always been tops for me. We stay well away from HP as they have to many issues

We've had a few hardware failures with HP Servers over the years and I've never had to wait more than a few days for stock, and that's only when it needed to be brought in from overseas via JHB to Cape Town. Usually we get next day swap-outs. Have never had anything as long as a week, nevermind 2 months. You HAVE to buy a Carepack though. Actually, this applies to any hardware, especially laptops and servers.

To be fair, can't comment on the laptop side, since we haven't had to have any HP's fixed for years. Don't sell that many these days though. They used to be excellent, back in the day. Fixed a laptop with expired warranty that was obviously damaged by the user due to recklessness, for free.
