Awesome date venue

Someone mentioned Toni's pizza. Also think it's over-rated. Try it once or twice for the novelty. Just because they slap on some unusual toppings everyone suddenly thinks it's the most awesomest amazingest bestest pizza ever ever.

The rooftop restaurant in the Southern Sun, Hyde Park kicks ass! Great food, great views, a swimming pool out on the deck. Get there before sunset and order cocktails.

That's it, you're done. Go home and shag.

nice one... i've booked at hedwigs (http://www.dining-out.co.za/member_details-MemberID-2140.html) looks quite awesome but it's going to be quiet - only one other table booked

like the rooftop restaurant idea - though - might be busier as well... hmmmmmm - decisions, decisions

Oh that looks nice! I think you have a winner there!
Also, you have to consider the weather....

weather - why? both are indoor?

Ah OK....didn't know the Sandton rooftop thingy was actually indoor. Was at a roof-top place in Umhlanga once that was actually not so much indoor and it got a tad nippy the later it got.

In that case screw the weather!

SCREW YOU, WEATHER!

hahaha.... to be honest I'm assuming it's indoor :D - but weather forecast shows it's clear skies the whole day - so should be fine... otherwise can always go somewhere else ;) Primi Piati Fourways or what not :) If there's a hitch I'm just going with it - not letting anything spoil it...

Hedwigs smells a bit (not sure if it's old carpets, or what), but at the same venue, which is Aloe Ridge Hotel, there is another restaurant that has a huge telescope - think it's the largets privately-owned telescope in the southern hemisphere. So you can have dinner (food is fairly nice) & look at the stars - very cool

Kewl - adding these to my list of places to take her...

It's both indoor and outdoor.

I'd go on a clear day, the outdoor deck by the pool is the best and the view rocks.

We had a bad experience at Hedwigs. It's a very small venue and there was only one other booking and that table got very rowdy (and racist).

The food was so-so. Don't order the pepper ice cream, it's literally ice cream with pepper ground on it. And very pricey! We enjoy fine dinning, but the quality of food did not match the price.

We went to stand out side and get some air and some residents were having a massive fight. And wow the dirt road sux lol!

Kina ruined what was supposed to be a romantic night, and we still refer to it as the worst restaurant we have ever been to lol.

Haha your bad experience seems more circumstantial - bad luck ;) But thanks for the heads up - going to give Southern Sun Hyde park a try - cocktails on the pool deck and a nice dinner with a view :) let's do it!

Have a look at Casalinga's if you haven't been there already. It's an awesome venue and we always have a great time there. Just stay away from the pork dish, it's not as good as it sounds ;) lol

The Southern Sun is awesome :) just be prepared to pay R50-R70 for a cocktail, but other wise very cool. Also check out the Skye Bar http://www.hisandton.co.za/skyeBar/ in Sandton, the prices are better and it's very intimate. For other hotel bar ideas check this out http://www.jhblive.com/live/kultcha_view.jsp?kultcha_id=60851

Try San Bar in the Sandton Sun Hotel. If it's a nice night, get a table outside. Really great place and later in the night you can cozy up around a bonfire.

Take her to The Carnivore! It'll make u look alpha as hell :)

Carnivore doesn't seem like much of a date venue though... more like a place where a group of guys can get together to outdo each other in the amount of meat you can put down. That said, it is an experience though.

I'm gonna start a female strip joint and call it Carnivores....

"Carnovore: A place where a group of ladies can get together to outdo each other in the amount of meat they can put down"

Thanks for the slogan idea, KB, I'll make sure you get the royalties.

Was just about to suggest the Skye Bar (even though I've not been to it yet...) and you beat me to it :)

You're thinking of http://www.dining-out.co.za/member_details-MemberID-2294.html. A friend has raved about the place.
