Axpert inverters any good?

All I know is that 5.5kW inverters are usually upto 3 times this price.

Any opinions / comments / alternative suggestions from the experts ?

What you are looking for is a called a hybrid inverter and the spec sheet confirms it is a hybrid
 
My family and I now have had a couple of Axpert inverters (different "brands").

They don't read voltages correctly, they don't charge correctly, overall not reliable.

My dad, father-in-law and I each have dead 5.5kw Axperts lying around.
At first they seem perfect and wow - you get a lot for your buck only to realise later on that they ruin your batteries and then stops working altogether. Also a replacement PC Board for the one was R5500 because there isn't really any spares, they basically stripped other stock to repair it (it lasted 3 months).

My next purchase is a Deye or SunSynk inverter (Same product, different software and companies) - My dad has had his SunSynk for couple of years now and wow - that is an amazing piece of hardware. Quality, Excellent functionality, Super accurate, truly Wi-Fi capable (and not a random dongle for which you have to download a random app from an unknown source just to realise that it is useless and more e-waste), solid.

Yes, they are 3 to 4 times the price but they don't ruin your batteries, they are accurate and they will last.
(You could argue - just replace your Axpert every time it breaks and you can that 3 or 4 times but how do you want to live your life?)

Touch wood, no issue since 2015 :unsure:
 
Mine ran a few years by me then I donated it to someone where its been running 2 more. Its probably close to 6 years old at this point.
But Im also very happy with my sunsynk and there are better priced ones out there now like luxpower and growatt that I would recommend instead of an axpert these days.
 
Axperts are shyte. I also had one back in the day that had its charging circuit die, then you have to find somebody willing to fix it but would end up not being worth it so it becomes a piece of e-waste.

Only when charging, not so much when just running the house, so between the hours of 9 to 2pm the fans whirr

I know this is a necro reply. But nowdays you can buy a Victron Multiplus II 5000/48 for R11000

Then you have to buy a separate charge controller and a separate wifi module and a separate this and a separate that? And finally after spending R30k you can have functional system?

Or has things changed since those days?

The Cerbo S (wifi as you call it) starts from R3000. The smallest MPPT is R850 this goes up from here as you size it to your needs. Which is the nice thing about Victron. But yes, it will be more expensive than an entry level product.
