Axxes Uncapped/Unshapped

How do you know when you are about to enter this top % elite list of shaped to death users??? Is there a link somewhere?
 
Dunno used to take down 7-800 gigs a month on after hours acoount. This month around 300gigs so far, not shaped yet. (not on purpose just been away.)

I'm told you get stars for how much you
download.

You start with 5 and then work your way
down to 1, with higher levels of shaping.

You can find out at the end of the month
by going to http://users.isdsl.net/.

It's a new system, so nobody knows where
the limits are.

that's a lot more than i figured this account would handle. but still poor given you never know where you stand.

Well I have done over 400G's this month on my uncapped express account and have not reached the 20% or 50% people yet - don't know how much they have downloaded to be throttled...... Axxess said they are waiting on IS to tell them how they are controlling this.
 
I seriously doubt Tango went and checked the link. I had the account you are thinking of buying and there is no way you will do 400Gb. Shank stay away from that account, it is shaped beyond belief and during the day you will have trouble retrieving email and browsing simultaneously. I used it for two months and was so frustrated with it that I gave up on it. I have even told Axxess that they should be embarrassed to sell such a sub standard product. I now have the Axxess Express unshaped uncapped (R899) and now regularly do 250-400gb without any complaints from Axxess.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make it very clear. I am on the uncapped express account (R899). Not the other capped account. I would think the shaping on those accounts will be a lot more tighter than on the R899 package.
 
Just out of interest what sort of performance you getting out of those Uncapped express accounts after hours? My lines been upgraded to 10mb and I am seriously considering one of these. Going to test drive the Openweb Gold for a month 1st though. Just given notice on my MWEB account... Shaping of file hosting sites is becoming a nuisance..
 
@ sandmanm34 I think it depends on what you download. I don't do torrents - only "news files". It runs at full line speed after hours doing news. Axxess have announced that they are allowing the 10Mb line speed on their express account. (My 4Mb line is not scheduled for upgrade yet - so I have a bit of a long wait ahead of me... :( ) I would seriously give it a try if I was you. I have had no issues with Axxess yet - even with the new AUP rules.

Agreed, it sounds like an awesome product and the only reason I haven't grabbed it already is I work from home and require a lot more than 384kbps during office hours. Inevitably I can see myself using this product in conjunction with a regular 4mb uncapped account (Openwen lite or MWEB or Axxess) which pushes cost up to around R1823 all in... Still better than the uncapped, unshaped 4mb business accounts going for around R2.5k all in...

Ja, that is the only downside of this account - not that I use mine during the day anyway. But as you say, just get some other package to use during the day for better speeds. You are on the right track at least.... ;)

That is such a load of hogwash, i have spoken to the marketing exec at Axxess, there is no star pointed rating system. Axxess themselves do not even know when you are going to get rate limited/shaped to death for the usuage. They just redirect you to the users site.
 
So it pretty much sums it up, uncapped,unshaped is just not the way to go. I like axxess thou as i have a fer ppl suffering with latency issues on Mweb here and there and i cant afford to have that as i game often.
 
Don't let the 384 during the day deter you. You have a rolling threshold that if you do not exceed in the 10 day period, you get line speed...not 384. If you exceed the rolling threshold you are then dropped to 384 during the day. I make full use of the account using Torrent at 400k, ventrillo and WoW simultaneously just about every evening after 8 PM with no issues. I am dropped to 384 during the day, but that is more than enough for browsing, mail http downloads etc. The rolling threshold is quite low, so if you download some biggish files you are dropped to 384 for the next 9 days...

Wait a minute!!! So what you saying is the 5gig rolling threshold on the 384kbps package only kicks in once you have used the said 5gig during office hours, within 10 days, at 4mb (or max line speed)? Wow, thought it was 5gigs at 384kbps. Damn this package just gets sweeter and sweeter...

They used to have a little calendar that showed how it worked on their website. Check it out...it may be what you need..

No its 384k during office hours. When you go past the rolling threshold you throttled further to 192k i think it was. Upto 10Mbps after hours.

Have to say I am tempted to go back to it.
