Hi Lino, we do not offer unshaped uncapped accuounts, this option is only available with a capped account.

Since we've had some queries - Our 4 Meg uncapped account is selling for R375 p.m.

And first quote you said 4Meg uncapped account......FTW WTF how can you advertise and troll this crap!!!!
What are you on about? She answered the question put to her factually.
The uncapped service is shaped.... If you want unshaped look at their capped accounts.
Comprehend?

Actually just FYI......shaped accounts are soft capped (refer to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/archive/index.php/t-24253.html Shaped and unshaped accounts)and UNCAPPED (refer to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/503730-Uncapped-or-Capped), so in short for NON IT minded people UNCAPPED is NO LIMIT NO CAP but they can limit you by speed of transfer according to FAIR USAGE POLICY if not UNSHAPED ACCOUNT where you will only get "Throttled" according to TRAFFIC..... and CAPPED is LIMIT on internet transfers i.e. 50Gb Data p/m.
For eg.
1. Your ISP is MWEB and you have a 50Gb p/m on a 4Mb line and it is UNSHAPED (premium) - Then you do NOT get shaped but you have a CAP.
2. Your ISP is MWEB and you have UNCAPPED SHAPED 4Mb line (non Premium) - Then you have NO CAP however you get shaped according to Fair usage policy and traffic on the exchange and DSLAM you are running on.
3. Your ISP is MWEB and you have UNCAPPED UNSHAPED 4Mb Line (Premium) - Then you have NO CAP and you do NOT get SHAPED according to FAIR USAGE POLICY.
The other factor is TELKOM SOC.
They have the right to shape anyone when the exchange gets CONGESTED.
So please WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND about SHAPING and UNCAPPED

@Xander8807: What are you on about? Unshaped doesn't necessarily mean soft-capped. I'm trying to understand what you're complaining about, but am clearly failing. Are you saying that Axxess has unshaped, soft-capped accounts?

No, If you read the thread you will see the marketing that this "agent" does, many people subscribe to ISP without reading fine print and they never tell you all the detail....
i am raving about false advertising and contradicting marketing........
the 'agent' said that they offer UNCAPPED in her first log and then when a user enquires about the line she contradicts the offer by saying CAPPED, "loopholes" True uncapped like MWEB offers do NOT SHAPE and there is NO SOFT CAP, EXECPT their new promotions and there it actually states that those account will undergo throttleling.
Their true uncapped accounts (premium) do not suffer from this epically unwanted service!!
So in short if you want TRUE UNCAPPED UNSHAPED go with MWEB their 4MB package (premium) is really worth the money and sometimes depending on the DSLAM you can get 625KBps download.
I run constantly on 425 - 536 KBps on downloads via torrents etc.

Lino, you can look at Mweb for that, R 899 for TRUE uncapped and unshaped.
You can phone Clinton @ accounts dept, he assisted me quite well and upgraded my line from 1Mb uncapped to my 4Mb uncapped within 15 Minutes where as the other ISP's takes 3 - 10 working days.

Lets explain it like this...........
UNCAPPED = No limit on data Upstream\Downstream
CAPPED = Data limit on Upstream\Downstream (profile dependend)
UNSHAPED = No fair usage policy applicable, only congestion on exchange applicable
SHAPED = Fair usage policy applicable, exchange congestion applicable.
Uncapped + Unshaped = No limit data and no fair usage policy (no throtteling), congestion applicable.
Capped + Unshaped = Data limit, no fair usage policy, congestion applicable.
Uncapped + Shaped = No data limit, fair usage policy applicable, congestion applicable.
Capped + Shaped = Data limit, fair usage policy applicable, congestion applicable.
Hope all is now understandable.

I found that a tad confusing. I'd put it this way:
CAPPED = Defined limit to how much data can be used on the account in question. Once that amount of data is used, service may be cut completely. Speeds whilst within cap could be shaped, or unshaped.
UNCAPPED = In principle, no defined limit on how much data you can use up in a given time-frame. Speeds could be shaped, or unshaped, as 'cap' only applies to the usage portion, not speed.

SHAPED = Speeds are managed/manipulated such that certain ports or protocols may be given higher priority than others. Furthermore, contention ratios come into effect, meaning that a pool of bandwidth (say 4Mbps) may be shared amongst a number of other users. The more shaped, the more users may be sharing that pool of bandwidth, or the more aggressive port prioritisation is. The concept is load-balancing, based on the assumption that not all users will be utilizing their line to full capacity 24/7, so the ISP can offer better pricing on a shaped product
UNSHAPED = Has nothing to do with usage quota as per above, but rather deals directly with the speed: no port prioritisation or contention is permitted. Unshaped means that in theory you can achieve full line speed, all the time, and on all protocols - assuming no congestion on the physical medium (exchange) that is not in the hands of the ISP's control.
