I have been a big fan of Axxess for the last 3 years. I have one of their most expensive accounts, the uncapped express. The last week I have had progressively worse latency to WoW EU and several calls to Axxess have resulted in stock standard 'canned' replies.
My latency has gone from 215/215 to 900/2800 in the last 5 days
My downloads have dropped from 600k to 200k
Tech support from Axxess
1) Nope no problems on our side...speak to Telkom
2) Hmmm...you have high SNR...speak to Telkom
3) There is noise on your line...speak to Telkom
4) It is possible that your exchange is congested...speak to Telkom
5) Get Telkom to recreate your port and call us back. No problems here
Chatting to a buddy who made the (shock and horror) move to Telkom uncapped and he gave me his login details to give it a shot. Latency to WoW 190/210...rock solid. Couldn't possibly be ? Changed login details back to Axxess and high latency returned.
Spoke to Axxess and they said they were unaware of any issues so they don't know. Now I see Seacom is toast again (1-2 weeks ?) and Axxess don't even know about it (their website currently lists no known network issues). So there goes my R899 account getting substandard throughput for basically the rest of the month and Axxess don't even know about it.
So I am taking the techie's advice and will speak to Telkom....about moving my business to them. I can't believe that after all this time, Telkom may actually have a better product and service, not to mention better price ?
