Not that I am unhappy in general, but I have an issue with Axxes' "Prepaid" ADSL.

It seems you are better off shooting off to the nearest Engen or Pick n Pay station to get your scratch card than buying online.

Why?

Simple - I purchased a 6 gig prepaid local only account online using CC. I used my cap and got one more... BUT I couldn't even use that one - I was told I had used more than 7 gig - before I even activated my 7th gig...
Now in my books, that's not prepaid. Prepaid is supposed to give you an understanding of when you have reached your "cap" - not cap you a whole gig later... I guess since a scratch card is not tied to an "account" number you shouldn't have this problem... At least if they only cap you a gig later, you don't pay for it...?

Anyone else experience this? Anyone tried the scratch card thingy and can confirm it is genuine "pre-paid"?

Hmmm I never experienced this before!

Never had any problems with pre-paid I bought online with CC.

Ya but its allways like that! With everything in the world! Everyone has no problem but then you get 1 customer that is truely having problems. Like me and cybersmart. Everyone has no problem but they are cutting me my connection is so slow and there is other stuff aswell! But ja

axxess have never caused me such problems. sorry to hear of your problems.

Same here, no problems with axxess prepaid so far and I started using it in the first month that service was offered.

So are those who are saying they have no problems being capped? And when you are capped, are you topping up? i.e. have you been in a position to test this?

Can anyone who gets capped on Axxess, please report on your usage at the point of capping - whether it is over the purchased amount of bandwidth or not?

My problem was confirmed by me when I phoned them - the new bandwidth purchase didn't get me connected - I phoned and they told me I had already used the extra gig... within 15 minutes of making the purchase online.

Thats BS. If you buy an additional gig then you should get another gig. It's not your fault that they messed up the capping on a previous transaction.

I tried buy prepaid at an Engen garage yesterday and got that blank Eish look. Then they tried to sell me an SMS bundle.:(

I bought a 3 gb prepaid voucher from Engen/Axxess last month... and got 3.3 gigs out of it. :D I got capped a day before the end of the month.

Some Engen shops don't know about it yet it seems, so next time you go there tell them to:

1] Go to prepaid cellphone airtime on the menu.
2] once at that menu punch in 87000070 for 1GB or if you want more then change the 70 to 140 for 2GB, 210 for 3GB and so on.

You might still get a blank look from the assistant but insist that they follow those instructions, works every time for me.:D

As far as I'm aware if you get capped with the axxess voucher account then you cannot top it up on that user name, you have to create a new account, hopefully that answers you question.

Thanks dude. I'll try it next time.

Yeah, thanks Mr H, that's great information...
As for the issue I'm having, it's prolly because I am using CC online and NOT voucher... hence my recommendation that people use vouchers.

I always seem to get capped as soon as I reach the threshold. Maybe a few mb over but certainly not gb's.

My axxess prepaid has always been fine.
I used a voucher bought online for about 3 months at one stage, it was for very low useage on Router Sentry and worked fine.

Never had any problems. Used up my axxess prepaid until I'm capped (which is 2Gb for a 2Gb voucher, 1Gb for a 1Gb voucher and so on), unused do roll over to the next month, and I'm happy with the prepaid voucher system.

It works for me.

I delete the old username/password completely, then enter the new username/password, and continue as normally. :)

Maybe you didn't removed the old username/password properly, and still is using it?

Been with them for bout 2 years now. Only thing I've noticed is when I have about 500 megs left on my cap (even if on the last day of the month) my speed appears to be throttled to death, to the point that I can barely use the internet. If I have more than 500 megs left on the last day of the month, no problem, speed is normal. I'm only talking about browsing speed, not downloading or anything like that.

@MFour, that's weird; what line are you on ? I'm on 384 kbps, and last month I had less than 50 MB left on the last day and got full speed (internationally and locally) with my Axxess accounts.

For the earlier question, Axxess usually cap you pretty soon after your limit (IE you might get a couple megs over but not too much, like bwana said earlier) and I know this from several months experience with them :)

Again, I said I am not using a voucer, but prepaid using Credit Card...
HENCE I USE THE SAME USERNAME AND PASSWORD AND RECOMMEND FOLK STICK TO VOUCHERS IN CASE THEY ARE ONLY CAPPED A GIG LATER... HERE IS MY USEAGE ON A 6 GIG LOCAL ONLY ACCOUNT:

01 November 2007 Daily total 540.94 Cumulative 540.94
02 November 2007 Daily total 104.76 Cumulative 645.70
03 November 2007 Daily total 0.00 Cumulative 645.70
04 November 2007 Daily total 6528.50 Cumulative 7174.20

Its simple - they probably reset the line at midnight and then calculate the cost - if you have a 4 meg line and are downloading at 300KBps then it's likely you will have used more than your cap when the line is reset...

Then when you top up, as did in my case, that top up just goes to service the extra gig you already used...

Vouchers give new user names and passwords, so being capped late is not your problem.
