I think SAOL base thier prices on contention, in the hopes that most people will buy "spare" bandwidth but never use it, and thus share it with the rest of the people?

I think SAOL are going to try and get as many people to sign up with them before november and bank on Telkom not being ready to implement the new billing.

And if by some miracle Telkom do - then SAOL will have to up their prices to those of other saix providers in december and absorb the november losses.

There is no really profitable way they can crunch numbers in such a way to provide you with 35 rand per gig.

But good on them! If axxess have to go the WA route, I will get a 10 gb SAOL acc ...
 
not much happening at work today and was browsing the forums - been a while since I was here.

...just stumbled onto this thread and read it from start to finish, and I had no idea of these proposed changes!

I currently have 3 x 30GB accounts - 1 with AYCE for my business & 2 with Axxess for my wife, kids and I, and am now very worried about this whole issue - there doesn't seem to be any clarity on it from any ISP's or Telkom themselves - another case of things left to the last hour! ...only in Africa...

I suppose all I can do is ride it out until things get sorted, then decide whether to cancel/downgrade.change the accounts...or take a second and third job to cover the costs :)

...hurry up and wait!...

Problem is that it's R1400.00 ex vat so you are look at about R1600.00 at the end of the day.
 
Imagine do have a cheaper option but then they start limiting what you can do with it...like p2p etc

No, when you cancel, we will cancel the next months Debit Order immediately. Please use the form provided in the Signup page. Please note if you cancel within the last 5 working days of the month. The Debit Order will take place(Banking Rules). In this case we will refund the full amount directly to your account. its not axxess fault though, telkom/saix are to blame.
 
Well I've received an invoice for November from Axxess @ R349 per 30GB account... so that means Axxess HAVE to give me my 30GB accounts at R349 each. Not so?
 
not unless you pay ... and even then they can still say sorry and either refund your money or give you u a diffrent package and split the diffrence, or charge you for the diff :)
